CBN.com – It was 1979, the year that a million protestors flooded the streets when the Ayatollah Kohmeini overthrew the Shah of Iran. He established Islamic law for all citizens. Samira was just a young girl when this happened.

“In the beginning, I had a very fun childhood,” she tells The 700 Club. “When I was born, it was during the Shah’s time and soon after was the Islamic revolution.”

Samira’s family didn’t practice Islam though, so she rebelled against the strict laws.

“We started having clothes restrictions. We couldn’t wear certain clothes anymore. Then we had to wear overcoats and jeans and scarves. Then there were color restrictions. We only had to wear dark colors like black, gray, dark navy, brown, and you can imagine it gets very hot in the summer in Iran and so it was very difficult.”

She especially hated the laws that didn’t treat boys and girls as equals.

“You would go to a swimming pool. The boys could go swimming, but the girls couldn’t, because if the government police came by and saw girls in the swimming pool, parents and families would be arrested and taken to jail.”

She continues, “Little by little, as a little girl they took the life out of me. Where what used to be fun -- going to school used to be fun, playing with my friends used to be fun -- all of that changed.”

One day Samira experienced the injustice of being treated as a second class citizen. Her hair had come out of her head covering and a female police officer stepped in.

“She grabbed me. She starts shaking me, [saying] ‘What are you doing? You have hair showing?’ She started going on and on about how what I’m doing is a sin and what I’m doing is completely inappropriate. I kind of kicked her as a little kid and ran away. I don’t get arrested. I was afraid of being arrested, of being thrown in jail, because I had some hair showing. But it was very traumatizing for me.”

She began to associate the strict Islamic laws with God Himself.

“I remember thinking if this is God, I want no part of Him, because if God exists, He is just. He’s going to be fair. He’s not going to make a big difference between a man and a woman.”

Her views were challenged though when her family moved to the United States. Her younger sister became a Christian. It wasn’t her new religion that Samira noticed; it was the change in her heart.

“She became a different person. When I looked into her eyes, I remember thinking, what a dramatic difference. I thought I was seeing angels. It was through that that I saw power of Christ and I thought maybe God exists.”

She decided to find out what made such a difference in her sister’s life and talked to her pastor.

“He came to talk to me, and he shared the Bible with me and the story of Christ and salvation.”

She still had questions in her mind, but what she heard one day on a Christian radio program made it all clear.

“The radio station was talking about a lady who had tried to do good, who tried to help people, but at the end of the day, she didn’t know where she was going. She didn’t have God in her life. I thought when it’s time for me to go, I don’t know where I’m going.”

Samira prayed with the man on the radio. She recalls, “I went through the prayer with him, not realizing what I had done. I accepted Christ into my heart.”

She is amazed at the freedom women have in Christ.

“When you see Jesus and how He talks about women in the Bible and how He values women, I think that’s just all helped me realize how God is just and love, no matter what time in history we’re talking about.”

Today Samira actively works in the legal system helping women in the United States escape from the harsh rules of the Islamic lifestyle.

“I thank God for the fact that I’m here in the United States. I thank God for the freedom that I have.”

Samira knows firsthand that true freedom comes only through Jesus Christ.

“We’ve seen how women are put down, treated badly, all because of who they are and what they come from. But when it comes to Jesus, all of that goes away. We have all the same rights. We all have the same amount of love that we get from God, which is a lot. We’re all one. There’s no difference. I think that’s the beauty of Jesus.”

UN to remove Christian couple from Iran

Iran (MNN) ¯ It's been months since Iranian husband and wife Arash Kermajani and Arezoo Teymouri were released from prison, but the couple continues to faces danger and harassment.Voice of the Martyrs reports that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has now stepped in and will be resettling the couple to a safer nation.
The Christian couple was arrested in 2010. According to VOM, the secret police burst in while the couple was watching a movie at another Christian couple's home. They were sent to a secret prison, where they remained for eight months.
"They did not inflict any physical torture on my body, but [they] did not for a second stop their psychological tortures. They ridiculed and debased me at every opportunity. Whenever I spoke of my Christian beliefs, they imitated, ridiculed, and laughed at me," Teymouri told Farsi Christian News Network.
Teymouri added, "Their attacks did not have any effect on my resolve to trust in our Lord Jesus Christ and to reconcile myself to the fact that He will protect his flock."
Extremists tried to pressure the couple to confess that they were acting against the government, but the duo did not give in.
"After eight months, I guess they realized they were wrong about us and caught on the fact that we are but simple witnesses to Christ," Kermajani told FCNN. The extremists released the couple without any notice, apparently finished with them.
That was in April. Since then, the couple has been far from safe. Even on the way from the prison, the couple's hired car was surrounded by motorcycles, whose riders were throwing bricks.
Although the couple has expressed a wish to remain in Iran and spread the Gospel there, the UN has stepped in for their relocation for their safety. The two intend to serve the Lord wherever they end up.

Courthouse Address. The Franklin County Courthouse is located at 373 South High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

By Automobile. The Franklin County Courthouse lies just East of the intersection of Interstate highways I-70 and I-71, off of exit 100A on I-70 (near the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy Rivers). Exit the freeway North, just a block until W. Mound Street, and turn East, to your right onto W. Mound. Drive East on W. Mound for just 4 blocks until you reach South High Street. Turn South, to your right, and you will see the Courthouse and rally site.

High Street, by the way, is the dividing line between E. & W. Columbus, so don’t be alarmed if you see streets with E. & W. designations: things are literally just “across the street” from each other, in relation to all of the events described herein.

Event Parking. The Courthouse is served by several large parking lots immediately to the North across W. Mound Street. The parking lot is bound on the West by S. Front Street, to the North by Main Street (which appears to be Ohio Highway 62), and to the East by S. High Street, upon which the Franklin County Courthouse fronts.

Another major parking lot lies to the North of the event, north and south between E. Main Street and E. Rich Street, and east and west on South High and South 3rd.

Cloak and dagger. The Islamists have been busy plotting and planning and filing docs in Ohio in secret, and springing it all on the court room today like a terrorist attack. Worse than a tacky Perry Mason episode, a document was faxed to Judge Dawson in Florida at the eleventh hour -- literally 3pm (the start time of today's hearing) -- announcing that all decisions and rulings in the Orlando court would be null and void, as now Ohio has jurisdiction.

Rifqa's parents' attorney, Shayan "Shaytan" Elahi, also said in court Monday that he filed a complaint with police. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement confirmed they received the complaint and it is under review. The nature of the complaint was not revealed. So the "loving" parents filed criminal charges against Rifqa in both Ohio and Florida. They are pursuing charges against the Christians who took Rifqa in and kept her safe after escaping the house from hell.

Meetings (hearings?) were being held concurrently in Ohio without the knowledge of anyone in Orlando. The judge in Ohio on the Rifqa Bary prosecution case is Judge Mason. Two petitions have now been filed in Ohio, the latter one delinquency -- David Colley is prosecuting attorney in Ohio. Further, a guardian ad litem has been appointed for Rifqa in Ohio. Judge, jury, executioner all in place.

The honor student, religious and righteous girl is an "unruly delinquent". Get it?

CAIR, Shayan Elahi, and Rifqa's parents, who did not attend the session in Orlando, are pursuing a legal strategy in Ohio of having Rifqa placed in foster care there by having their daughter declared "incorrigible".

Rifqa's guardian ad litem Krista Bartholomew stated "grave concerns" that should Rifqa be returned to Ohio the legal proceedings there would be swiftly discontinued, thus leaving her with no legal protection against her parents.

There are two ongoing cases regarding Rifqa Bary's dependency: one in Florida and the other in Ohio.

The parents of the 17-year-old filed a motion Monday for a dependency hearing seeking jurisdiction of the case to be moved from Orlando to Columbus, Ohio. An Ohio judge has set a hearing for Oct. 27. The parents' filing puts into question which state ultimately will have jurisdiction over the case. Right now Florida has an emergency temporary jurisdiction but the Orlando court judge said he wants to speak with an Ohio judge to determine who has jurisdiction.
Also in court Monday the attorney for the father says he has filed a complaint with the Orlando Police Department about Blake and Beverly Lorenz, the pastors who took Rifqa Bary in for two weeks after she fled to Orlando. The attorney [Shatan] says he wants a criminal investigation into the Lorenz family. As a result, the judge said that no members of the Lorenz family can visit Rifqa Bary who remains in the custody of the the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Shaytan Elahi succeeded in getting Rifqa's last lifeline removed. The Lorenz children have been banned from seeing Rifqa.

Rifqa Bary will remain in Florida for at least three more weeks.

The girl's parents have filed a dependency petition in courts in Columbus – the first hearing up there was Monday afternoon, too – and interstate agreements dictate that Orlando judge Daniel P. Dawson start a conversation with the judge on the case in Ohio.

"The only question," Dawson said in court, "is how long should my emergency jurisdiction stay open" – "if," he added, "this is a legitimate custody action in Ohio?

"I just need to talk to the judge up there," Dawson said.

Krista Bartholomew, Rifqa Bary's guardian ad litem, told the judge she had "grave concerns" that the dependency petition in Ohio would be dropped as soon as the girl got back to Ohio. She suggested it could be a "ploy."

"A ploy?" said Shayan Elahi, the Orlando attorney for Bary's father.

"Judge," Elahi said. "This is their daughter."

UPDATE: At the last hearing the judge wanted to see the Barys' immigration papers. Shaytan Elahi dismissed this request with a wave of the hand, insisting that he was new to the case, but that he would get them to the judge and Rifqa's attorneys in short order.

They are illegal and have been avoiding immigration law. The judge asked where the immigration docs were today, and of course, Shaytan did not have them. Time to file all kinds of nefarious actions against Rifqa, but no time to get documents on the Barys' illegal status?

Here are some key points as noted by Imitiaz, fellow apostate and Rifqa friend and supporter:
Court Case Points:

Immigration Paper Work: Still not presented. Elahi suggested that he had a hard time getting the documents when faxed or sent, because he wasn't by the fax (as what could be discerned as he mumbled). He then mentioned that Mr. Bary had it mailed and just has to be picked up, however Elahi didn't find time to pick it up. He committed to get it to them tomorrow at 5pm to all parties.

Council Representing Rifqa: Maxine (DCF) called for an Urgent Matter. And the council approached the Bench. Mr Elahi hanged back and barely even said a word. To my speculation it seemed like pressure may have been impressed upon the Maxine to address this Issue if Stemberger is a good representative for Rifqa. You must have heard some these points:
-Krista confirmed it is not for the GAL to have an opinion, however if there was any harm to the child by having a representative without her best interest in mind then she would voice her concern-in short she had none about John.
-Maxine confirmed that DCF simply didn't want to make an accusations or challenge John's integrity, but would simply to like the court to have it documented on How Stemberger Came on the case.
-John listed all attorneys of representation- Himself and a Kurt (Rafel or Rafelt sp?)
-Elahi had brought up the issue that to simply dismiss Stemberger's other agenda is not wise and there should be a HUGE concern on the court about this issue. Dawson Responded by encouraging that in these cases Lawyers may operate outside their scope, however the challenge with Elahi's accusations is that he speculate John meant the worse for Rifqa. And Dawson had confirmed that John was working Probono.

Krista is going to get all parties a copy of the report from her office tomorrow by "close of business". The challenge with this report is that the transcript is done not in chronological order (ie a question is asked and instead of name listed before the answer it seems like its muddled together)

Delinquency Petition was revised and delivered to the Court Authorities last minute. The first one to the best of knowledge will be thrown out. The Judge was Late because he was receiving a Fax with more information about the petition amended in OH by some affilates.

The documents confused the court to figure out what they meant for quite a bit of time. They wondered what it was saying? who was represented? when it was happening? And the little bit that was solved was that they had a Meeting in a OH Courts with the Barys present, a staff attorney, prosecuting attorney (also later mentioned this could be the one for an OH council in 'support' of Rifqa) among other court athorities. The Barys were questioned on who was there and they gave brief to no details. Krista requested if there is a GAL that Elahi provide that. Elahi said he will get the details to them, but suggested that jurisdiction is in OH because there is an active court date. Dawson and all other authorities seemed shocked at this except the parents side.

They also confirmed that any OH GAL is not mentioned or were in contact with Rifqa-and Rifqa confirmed this

Dawson in references to this clarified that Jurisdicition cannot pass unless he speaks to the other Judge (Judge Mason).

Dawson went on to say that this report the way it was composed is like a criminal proceeding with out any criminal charges--which is void in FL, however they need an OH official to clarify terms who is familiar with OH terms.

Krista mentioned how the document had a date of about a week and they are not informed till now, may encourage that it is a Ploy to get Rifqa up there and FL loose jurisdiction and OH has the dependency petition revoked. So she wanted the terms of their petition to be transferrable with jurisdiction and irrevocable. Also mentioned that the other petition should be in concern for not having a Name Attached to it.

Elahi mentioned that he of course doesn't want his client dragged through the court by saying, "Ploy" however DAWSON mentioned, "be careful, I already mentioned a petition like this delinquency is void in FL" and suggested that it may not carry weight even in OH

Dawnson confirmed that all parties involved in the Lorenz residence while Rifqa was there cannot have any form of contact including email would be inappropriate IF there is a Criminal Investigation--which Elahi again promised to provide proof to the court and all authorities tomorrow

The decision is between Judge Dawson's conversation with Judge Mason. The file in OH is of course incompetent and Dawson informs the court that to imply concerns as Krist had with mentioning it might be a Ploy is within question. So if he communicates this with Judge Mason in great fashion with support from Gov. Crist complimented with DCF secretary George Sheldon would most likely be the necessary push to keep Rifqa Down here.

Still no resolution in Rifqa Bary case as legal proceedings continue

he continuing story of Rifqa Bary, the Ohio teen who ran away from home out of fear his devout Muslin parents would kill her due to her becoming a Christian, added another chapter today in Florida and Ohio courtrooms. For now, Rifqa will remain with her court appointed foster family in Florida. How long this will be the case is unknown.

The legal wrangling today included a statement by Shayan Elahi, the attorney for Rifqa's parents, that he has filed a complaint with both Orlando police and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement against Blake and Beverly Lorenz, the ministerial couple who took Rifqa in after she ran away. A spokesperson for the OPD stated it had not received a complaint and that the Lorenz's were not under investigation by the department.

Orange County Circuit Judge Daniel Dawson stated he would talk with his Ohio counterpart to determine jurisdiction in the case now that legal proceedings are transpiring in both states. Rifqa's parents, who did not attend the session in Orlando today except via conference call, are pursuing a legal strategy in Ohio of having Rifqa placed in foster care there by having their daughter declared incorrigible by dint of being repeatedly disobedient. Rifqa's guardian ad litem Krista Bartholomew stated "grave concerns" that should Rifqa be returned to Ohio the legal proceedings there would be swiftly discontinued, thus leaving her with no legal protection against her parents.

In Florida, a mediation hearing is set for October 9th, with the next session in juvenile court scheduled for October 13th.

All believers are asked to continue in prayer that Rifqa be allowed to worship Christ in peace and safety.

Runaway to remain in Florida, but hearings shift to Ohio

ORLANDO, Fla. - The legal battle over teen runaway Fathima Rifqa Bary will continue Tuesday in an Ohio courtroom after an Orlando hearing Monday brought more questions than resolutions.

Orange County, Fla., Circuit Judge Daniel Dawson did nothing to change the custody of the 17-year-old, who is living with a foster family near Orlando, and said he planned to talk to an Ohio judge to find out whether there is a legitimate custody action in that state.

If so, Dawson would need to determine whether Florida's emergency jurisdiction should remain - and for how long.

Meanwhile, Rifqa's father stepped up a strategy to bring his daughter back to Ohio. Mohamed Bary filed a criminal complaint against the Orlando pastors who helped shelter Rifqa for more than two weeks before the state intervened.

Lawyer Shayan Elahi told the Orange County court that Rifqa's parents, Mohamed and Aysha Bary, filed a complaint about Blake and Beverly Lorenz with law-enforcement officials.

A letter sent to Orlando police by Mohamed Bary claimed Rifqa was "indoctrinated and coerced" by representatives of Global Revolution Church and "was hidden" by the Lorenzes. Orlando police said they are not investigating.

A Florida Department of Law Enforcement spokeswoman confirmed the agency received a complaint against the Lorenzes, but she could not comment further.

Rifqa made national headlines when she ran away from her home near Columbus, Ohio. She took a bus to Central Florida and sought shelter with the Lorenzes in July. She spent more than two weeks with the family until Aug. 10, when she was placed into state foster care, where she remains.

The teen said she feared her Muslim family would harm or kill her because of her conversion to Christianity.

Rifqa's family has denied any wrongdoing, and investigators in Ohio and Florida have not found evidence supporting Rifqa's claims.

The pastors, who have served in the ministry in Central Florida for more than 25 years, met Rifqa through a prayer group on the social-networking Web site Facebook.

A Florida statute makes it unlawful to shelter an unmarried minor for more than 24 hours without the consent of a parent or guardian, or without notifying a law-enforcement officer of the child's name. A violation of that law is a misdemeanor.

Mat Staver, the Lorenzes' lawyer and longtime friend, said there is "no solid basis for the complaint" filed against them.

He said the Lorenzes did what any person would do given the circumstances. Staver said the Lorenzes took multiple steps to notify authorities.

The Lorenzes were questioned as part of FDLE's earlier inquiry into the alleged threats made against Rifqa by her family, Staver said. They have not been questioned since.

The pastors were already forbidden from visiting Rifqa in foster care. Dawson added their adult children to the ban in light of any criminal inquiry.

Rifqa used Monday's hearing to peruse a Bible. Other than stating her name, she did not speak.

Her parents listened to the hearing by phone.

In recent weeks, the Barys launched a new strategy to get their daughter back to their home near Columbus and placed in Ohio's foster-care system. Mohamed Bary's filing, asking a judge to declare his daughter incorrigible for repeatedly being disobedient, is one case there.

Another preliminary hearing is scheduled in juvenile court Tuesday morning in Columbus, Ohio, to address the issue. Criminal attorney Kort Gatterdam, who is representing Rifqa in Ohio, said he will address the complaint and plans to file a document Tuesday morning that will impact the case. He would not give details about the filing.

Rifqa's guardian ad litem, Krista Bartholomew, said in court Monday that she has "grave concerns" that the Ohio case would be dismissed as soon as Rifqa is sent back there.

The Barys also filed a dependency petition against themselves in juvenile court in Ohio, Elahi said. The next hearing in that case is Oct. 27.

Roger Weeden, the attorney for Rifqa's mother, Aysha Bary, said the Ohio court has accepted jurisdiction and argued that all of the witnesses in Rifqa's case, from relatives to teachers, are there.

Rifqa's Florida case is set for mediation Oct. 9. Another proceeding in juvenile court is Oct. 13.

Also Monday, Dawson kept sealed the FDLE's interview of Rifqa. The judge said he wanted to read a transcript of the interview before deciding whether to make it public.

Bary's attorney, John Stemberger, said the teen is scheduled to participate in a hearing Tuesday morning long-distance. But the attorney for the girl's father, Mohamad Bary, said the truancy complaint had been abandoned and replaced with a dependency petition. An Ohio judge scheduled an Oct. 27 hearing in the dependency case. Attorneys for Bary's parents also filed a motion Monday seeking to have the case moved to Ohio.

On Monday, Dawson retained emergency jurisdiction in the case but plans to talk with an Ohio judge to determine if it should be transferred.

Krista Bartholomew, Bary's guardian ad litem, told the judge she had "grave concerns" that Mohamad and Aysha Bary's dependency petition was a "ploy" to transfer the case to Ohio. She said she feared the Barys would drop the case when their daughter was returned to the state.

Bary's parents also have filed a criminal complaint against Blake and Beverly Lorenz, the charismatic pastors who took the girl into their home when she arrived in Orlando. Attorneys for the Barys claim the couple brainwashed the teen into believing her parents would harm her for converting. Because the police investigation is still under way, Dawson decided Monday that the Lorenzes' adult children could no longer visit the teen, who is living in an Orlando foster home.

Bary has been the focus of national prayer efforts since her legal battle became public in early August. But prayer leaders urged intercessors to pray particularly on Monday, expecting Dawson to decide whether the girl should be returned to Ohio.

In an urgent prayer call issued Friday, TheCall founder Lou Engle asked Christians to pray "that the best situation for Rifqa and her family would take place."

"We must pray for Rifqa to be bold in proclaiming Jesus that even thousands of Muslims would hear and be awakened to the love of Christ," he wrote. "She has already said that this is not about her, but about many Muslims coming to Jesus."

On Monday, Cindy Jacobs, co-founder of Generals International, also sent a prayer call to ministry supporters, urging them to intercede for Bary. "This young woman's life is in grave danger," Jacobs wrote. "Please pray for Rifqa's protection, pray for Rifqa to continue testifying boldly of Jesus Christ, pray for Godly wisdom for the judge hearing this case, and pray that God would be glorified through this."

On Monday morning, Bary made a surprise visit to the Orlando House of Prayer (OHOP), where Christians—including a group of youth who had traveled from Kentucky—gathered to pray for the outcome of her case.
OHOP director Carlos Sarmiento said the teen's faith was strong and that she prayed for God to bring an awakening in the body of Christ.

Will religious runaway Rifqa Bary be killed if she's sent home to Ohio?

Bary is the 17-year-old girl who fled to Florida in July because she's terrified that her Muslim family has to murder her due to her conversion to Christianity.

Authorities in both states say there's no "credible" threat against her. Investigators from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement say her fear is "subjective and speculative." Her parents say they don't want to hurt her and just want her back.

On the FDLE report, see this analysis of its many flaws by a veteran FBI agent. As for what her parents say, what does anyone realistically expect them to say? Even if everything Rifqa Bary has said that they said to her is true, does Michael Kruse, or the FDLE, or the Governor of Ohio, or anyone else actually think that they're going to say, "Yes, of course we want to kill her, now send her back to us so that we can slit her throat!"? Also, other fathers who have threatened to kill their daughters have lured them back home with assurances that all is forgiven -- only to murder them when they return. These include Yaser Said, the father of Amina and Sarah Said, who were murdered in Texas on New Year's Day 2008, and Mohammed Parvez, father of Aqsa Parvez, who was murdered in Canada in 2007. Do we really want to take that kind of a chance with Rifqa Bary's life?

She's living with a foster family as a court in Orlando tries to decide what to do with her. The next hearing is Monday afternoon. Attorneys for her parents are expected to argue that the case should be shifted to Ohio.

This is a good time to pause for a bit and take another look at her Aug. 10 interview with local TV. It remains this ongoing story's primary source.

"I'm fighting for my life!" she said in her nearly seven-minute interview with Orlando's WFTV. "You guys don't understand!"

Let's understand then.

"Imagine the honor in killing me," she said. "It's in the Koran."

It's not. Here's what is.

Note that this supposedly "objective" journalist does not simply report -- as would a genuinely objective journalist -- that some people say that the Koran mandates the killing of apostates and that some people say it doesn't. Instead, he sets himself up as judge in the case and decides it all for you. To be sure, he trots out witnesses in his show trial, including me, but he has already delivered his verdict: Is the death penalty for apostates in the Koran? "It's not."

One verse: "If any of you turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein."

Another verse: "If they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them."

Those are parts of the two verses Robert Spencer cites to support his belief that Bary will be killed because Islam says she must be killed.

I don't think Rifqa Bary "will be killed because Islam says she must be killed." That would be asinine, and I expect Kruse knows that. I think Rifqa Bary might be killed because she says that her father said he would kill her, and because there is abundant support in Islam for the idea that apostates should be killed. Michael Kruse wants to gamble with her life. I don't.

Florida Agency’s Report Endangers Rifqa Bary

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is supposed to be in the business of saving lives. Yet, a just-released report by FDLE investigators may prove to be a death sentence, says Frank J. Gaffney Jr.

At risk is the life of Rifqa Bary, the 17-year-old girl who fled to Florida in July to escape her family and the virulent Muslim community near Columbus, Ohio of which they have been a part since immigrating from Sri Lanka. Rifqa says that her father had threatened to kill when he discovered that she had secretly converted to Christianity several years ago. That would make her, according to the comprehensive theo-political-legal program authoritative Islam calls Shariah, guilty of “apostasy” — a capital offense.

For Shariah-adherent Muslims, such an offense is a stain on the family’s honor and it often falls to fathers or brothers to remove it by the execution of the offender. A juvenile court judge in Florida asked the FDLE to assess this possibility before he ruled on the motions filed by Bary’s parents to compel her return to Ohio.

Unfortunately, the Florida investigators failed to perform their assignment. They found “no conclusive reports of threats” against Rifqa Bary. At best, their report is incomplete. At worst, it is misleading, possibly fatally so.

The FDLE concluded that “our investigation has provided no clear evidence of criminal activity in other states [i.e., Ohio] which may be supportive of [Bary’s] allegations.” This finding could only have been reached by a lack of due-diligence. For example, the investigators evidently failed to pursue the following leads:

• A Rifqa Bary Facebook site with 123 members that claims as its mission “we must kill her” was not considered evidence of potential criminal activity.
• The Shariah-adherent Muslim community near Columbus and its toxic Noor Islamic Cultural Center were not investigated. The FDLE report says that “an investigation into any person, religious or social organization without a specific criminal predicate in inappropriate.” This is all the more stunning given that Rifqa’s attorney, John Stemberger, has introduced into evidence a 35-page document revealing the mosque’s extensive ties to jihadism and terrorism.
• The FDLE did not interview many of the friends Rifqa had identified who had knowledge of the abuse to which she had long been subjected at the hands of family members. The FDLE evidently spoke to just three individuals from the list and dispensed with the rest.
• There was nothing remotely like a rigorous effort to establish the degree to which Shariah requires its adherents to murder apostates like Bary or the extent to which honor killings have been occurring in Western states — including, of late, the U.S. — to carry out this obligation.

Without such relevant information, the presiding Juvenile Court judge, Daniel Dawson, is — to put it mildly — clearly at an extreme disadvantage in deciding whether Bary can safely be sent back to her family and/or community.
The extent to which this denial of material facts is not just an omission but dereliction of duty on the part of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is suggested by the outrageous double-standard its investigators reportedly applied as they conducted interviews with the prospective victim and her family.

My Pet Jawa, a blog that has been doggedly and carefully following the Rifqa Bary case, broke the story that the FDLE report included the following admission:
“FDLE/DCF Investigators were accompanied to the Bary residence by Sgt. John Hurst of the Columbus P.D. Child Abuse Squad. The residence is located in an apartment complex. Mr. Babak Darvish, Executive Director of the Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Columbus and Mr. Romin Iqbal, Staff Attorney for CAIR OHIO were present. Investigators interviewed Mr. Bary in a non-custodial setting.”

As My Pet Jawa observed: “What makes this decision by FDLE and the Florida Dept of Children and Families to allow CAIR — who is not a party to the legal dispute and has not notified the court that they are representing the Barys in any legal capacity —[reprehensible] is that FDLE/DCF conducted a three and a half hour interrogation of Rifqa, the victim in this case, without her attorney and guardian ad litem being present.”

The inclusion of CAIR representatives in such a proceeding would be all the more outrageous in light of the fact that CAIR is a Muslim Brotherhood-associated organization. The Brotherhood has the explicit goal of “destroying Western civilization from within” and making America into a Shariah-adherent Islamic nation. CAIR was also an unindicted co-conspirator in a case involving material support for the terrorist organization Hamas.

Taken together, the FDLE’s conduct suggests that its personnel deliberately conducted an investigation that is both incomplete and misleading. We can only speculate as to why. But the possibility that Gov. Charlie Crist would like this hot potato transferred to Ohio rather than have it complicate his run for the Senate may be a contributing factor.

What is clear is this: If the minor in question were fleeing parents who she believed wanted to kill her for reasons other than Islam’s Shariah, it is hard to imagine that the system in Florida ostensibly charged with protecting such children would even contemplate restoring parental custody.

Should such a restoration take place in this case, it will be further evidence that America is succumbing to the stealth jihad that is inexorably insinuating that seditious Islamic program into our society, in Florida and elsewhere across this country. In that event, the result of failing to fight the Islamists in this case may prove to be not just a death sentence for Rifqa Bary. It could turn out as well to be an important milestone in the submission of all Americans to the program that explicitly seeks to replace our Constitution and the liberties it enshrines with the brutal and repressive program known as Shariah.

Ministers Still Concerned for Teen Convert’s Safety
Christians supporting an Ohio teen who claims her parents threatened to kill her for converting from Islam say they are still concerned about the girl's safety despite a report from Florida investigators saying they found no evidence to back up her allegations, says Adrienne S. Gaines.

The ministers, who have met with Rifqa Bary, 17, since she arrived in Florida in late July, say the teenager is fighting a spiritual battle, not merely a legal one. They argue that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) report, which did not include interviews with members of Ohio's Muslim community, should not be used to discredit her testimony.

"What's behind this is a spirit of deception that is trying to show this girl to be a liar," said Shaddy Soliman, a native of Egypt who is now pastor of Orlando Arabic Church in Florida. "This is a vessel of honor. The Lord is going to raise her up for her generation."

Jamal Jivanjee, a convert from Islam who met Bary a year ago when he was a college pastor in Ohio, agreed.
"I think Christians need to pray and see what's behind all of this," said Jivanjee, who now leads a ministry in Tennessee. "What is her testimony, what is her story, what is she saying? That's what I think Christians need to pay attention to."
Jivanjee said the findings still don't lead him to believe Bary is safe. "What evidence would you find that an honor killing is going to take place," he said. "I understand that they're in a quandary, but if they looked a little harder than they looked, I think they'd find something."

The fact that this drama unfolded before Bary became an adult is partly what has Soliman and Jivanjee alarmed. "They're refusing to let her go because they know if one teenager ran away [from Islam] and got away with it, other teenagers will try to do it," Soliman said.

Bary, whose family immigrated from Sri Lanka, is not a U.S. citizen and her family's immigration status is unclear. If returned to her parents, "she could be taken out of the country," Jivanjee said, "and that was her fear."
Jivanjee sees the legal battle as bigger than Bary.
"What I think Christians have to keep in mind is that all this was brought on by a girl who refused to deny Jesus," he said. "It's a picture of a changing climate in our country. I would have thought people would have looked at the Islamic community with more suspicion and Rifqa with less suspicion. But that's the not the case."

Supporters of the Ohio teen called the FDLE report a “travesty of justice,” and one Islam expert criticized the report as “political correctness” that will endanger the girl’s life, says JAMES A. SMITH SR.

The FDLE report, which was unsealed Sept. 14 by Judge Daniel Dawson of Orange County's Ninth Judicial Circuit Court, summarizes the department’s investigation of Rifqa Bary’s claims that her father, Mohamed Bary, threatened her life in June after learning of her conversion to Christianity.

Dawson ruled Sept. 3 that Rifqa would remain in emergency protective custody of the Department of Children and Families (DCF), setting the next hearing on the matter for Sept. 29. Dawson has also put a “gag order” in effect, forbidding attorneys from speaking to the media about their clients.

In her Aug. 30 sworn affidavit, the 17-year-old said in June her father was pressured by leaders of the family mosque, the Noor Islamic Cultural Center in Columbus, to deal with reports they had received concerning Rifqa’s Christian conversion.
“In a fit of anger that I had never seen before in my life, he picked up my lap top, waived it over my head as if to strike me with it and said, ‘If you have this Jesus in your heart, you are dead to me! You are no longer my daughter,’” Rifqa said in the affidavit.

“I continued to remain silent and then he said to me even more angry than before, ‘I will kill you! Tell me the truth!’”
According to the FDLE report, on Aug. 24 Rifqa told FDLE investigators that she was fearful for her life because of the Islamic teaching she understood to require death for Muslims who convert to Christianity.

FDLE investigators interviewed Rifqa’s parents at their Westerville, Ohio, home on Aug. 27. Her father denied ever striking and threatening Rifqa, although he admitted during his confrontation with his daughter about her conversion that he grabbed the lap top computer and intended to throw it, but decided against doing so because of its expense.

Brian Williams, a 21-year-old friend of Rifqa, contacted FDLE on Aug. 28, noting that he filed a report with the Columbus Police Department that she had told him about her father’s threat and her mother finding Christian materials in July. Williams also told FDLE he baptized Rifqa in June. He also said he drove Rifqa from a friend’s house to the bus station when she decided to flee.

Concerning “honor killings” for apostasy from Islam, Mohamed Bary emphatically rejected the reality of the concept, by answering “absolutely not,” adding “there is no such thing as honor killing.”

The FDLE report noted during the Aug. 27 interview with the Bary family, two officials of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) were present, including CAIR attorney Romin Iqbal who characterized honor killings as “cultural and tribal, not related directly to the Islamic religious practice.”

Mohamed Bary said he does intend to raise his minor daughter as a Muslim, but she would be permitted to “study Christianity,” and as an adult “she would be free to worship as she pleased,” according to the FDLE report.

The FDLE reported, “The Islamic community was not investigated. And investigation into any person, religious or social organization without a specific identifiable criminal predicate is inappropriate.”

The report further asserted, “Ms. Bary’s concern that she may be killed because of her conversion from Islam to Christianity remains a subjective and speculative concern in that FDLE’s inquiry to date has failed to reveal any evidence of a conspiracy to commit, solicitation to commit, attempt or other efforts to commit any such action or other violence against her.”

According to Ergun Mehmet Caner, the FDLE report is an example of “political correctness” that may endanger Rifqa’s life.
“Her blood, which is almost certain to be shed if returned, is on their hands. The police and judicial branch in Florida were her last hope,” Caner said in a Sept. 15 interview with Florida Baptist Witness.

Caner, who converted to Christianity as a 16-year-old in Columbus, Ohio, grew-up in the mosque, the Islamic Foundation of Central Ohio, out of which the Bary family mosque was started and remains connected. Caner’s father, the family mosque’s architect, disowned his son – and two others – for converting to Christianity.
Now a Baptist minister and president of Liberty Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Va., Caner is a well-known apologist for the Christian faith – activity for which a fatwa, an Islamic religious ruling calling for his death, was issued last year.
Because of his outspoken repudiation of Islam and defense of Christianity, Caner said he has to take special security precautions.

Caner told the Witness, “Death for apostasy from Islam is firmly rooted in the most sacred Muslim texts,” citing the Qur’an and the Hadith, collections about Islam’s prophet, Muhammad.

“There is also a consensus by all four schools of Sunni Islamic jurisprudence, as well as Shi’ite jurists, that apostates from Islam must be put to death,” he said.
Caner emphatically rejected Mohamed Bary’s claim that Rifqa would be permitted to study Christianity as a minor and worship as a Christian when she becomes an adult.
“Islam does not allow this. She brings dishonor to her family by her Christian faith,” he said.

Caner criticized the FDLE for permitting CAIR representatives to be present during the Aug. 27 interview of the Bary family, calling it “a form of intimidation. Was [Rifqa's] Christian friend allowed in as well? Of course not.”

CAIR, a Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, is credible only to other Muslims, according to Caner.

Tom Trento, director of Florida Security Council, an international terrorism organization based in Lake Worth that has tried to rally public support for Rifqa Bary, issued a news release calling the FDLE report and investigation “an amateurish farce or politically motivated.”

He said the FDLE failed to “adequately explore and address the history of abuse outlined in the affidavit and the threats to Rifqa's life as demonstrated by the affidavit and additional reports submitted to the court.”

The report is a “travesty of justice for Rifqa Bary,” Trento said.
Trenton criticized the report for failing to ask Rifqa’s parents about alleged sexual abuse of her by her uncle; failing to inquire about Rifqa’s claim her parents will send her back to Sri Lanka; failing to interview “an extensive list of witnesses” concerning Rifqa’s fear of death; the reliance on the testimony of Mohamed Rifqa and CAIR about “honor killings;” and failing to investigate the terrorist ties of the family mosque.

“The FSC believes Gov. Charlie Crist and DCF Secretary George Sheldon have an obligation to direct the agencies under their authorities to fully re-examine their investigations and reporting in the case of Rifqa Bary in light of the inadequacies of this effort thus far,” Trenton asserted.

I was born in a very religious family. I have two brothers and we were all involved in a fanatic group that met in our home three times a week. As the youngest son I attended all the meetings where I learned all about Muslim doctrine and the Quran.

When I was a little boy I was so scared from what I would hear about death, the snakes and all kinds of God's punishments and sufferings after death. For me, God was a God of horror and fear whose main interest was torture. All of this information was presented in detail during meetings in our home.

Accordingly, I passed through a very difficult time as I couldn't cope with all the teaching I heard. So when my friend Zaki told me about the love of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Injil, I was very interested. Reading the Bible produced in me a state of confusion and a sense of animosity started to grow towards Islam.

As I read about the Christ in the Bible I was shocked and astonished by His words. He attracted me a lot and I found I couldn't resist His teaching. I started to compare between the words of the Quran and Christ's words such as "If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." By contrast, in the Quran all commandments order you to fight and to kill people. I felt the Quran was against humans but the Bible was serving man. Jesus attracted me in a way that I felt as if I were a butterfly caught by a spider web. Accordingly, I felt that it was impossible to live without Jesus Christ because He gave real meaning to my life. I decided to follow Jesus and live only for Him.

I used to express all my thoughts and feelings with all the elders and friends. One day, I told the imam at our local mosque that I would rather go to hell with Jesus Christ than to heaven with the God of Islam! As a result, the imam and my family started beating me. My family used to beat me on a daily basis.

I escaped and ran to St. Mark's church, but the priest was afraid to accept me. My family tried to convince me to return to Islam. Several Christians advised me to leave the country and travel abroad. But deep in my heart I felt I was to serve the wonderful Jesus in my home country.

The priest put me in touch with Butros who found me a place to live in our capital city and began to disciple me. God started to use me and several of my friends including Mustafa and Hassan came to Jesus. I started to go around the country and to meet the converted Muslim people whom I had heard about. What I wanted most was to live as the apostles in Acts; that church was my dream. I liked their community life in which all people helped each other and no one was poor - for me that was the ideal.

In time the police began observing us. Two of my friends were arrested but the police didn't find me. I had a decision to make, either to run and hide, or to return home and have the police arrest me. I decided to come back to my apartment and wait for the police.

I don't know what I did to deserve the harsh treatment the police gave me. I didn't kill, steal, or trade in drugs. I was so angry. I lost consciousness several times as they beat me and when I stood up again they began to beat me again. Later they tortured me in different ways by electric shock, beatings, and walking on my body. I didn't imagine that there were such savage, cruel and hard people who would punish people in this way.

After we were released from prison, everyone thought we would leave the country but we were more insistent on staying because we became more strong and mature. My vision became clearer. We believed this is the time in which my country should be changed because many people had paid a high price.

My main aim is evangelism. I felt that churches had gone far away from the great mission, which is to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth. The church's purpose is to affect society. I believe we have to participate in all fields of our society. Even though our society rejects us we have to be in art, journalism, theater, political parties, and government jobs.

Finally I want to say that we believe that God created a new generation of converted Muslims who will see revival in their Islamic societies. God is doing a lot and thousands of Muslims are coming to Jesus, but the media hides this truth.

Women to hold prayer vigil outside Iranian Embassy for release of two Christian converts

Women dressed in white will be gathering outside the Iranian embassy in London this Saturday as part of a prayer vigil to highlight the plight of two female Christian converts from Islam who have been held at Evin Prison in Teheran without charge for the last six months.
The vigil is being organized by Iranian Christian women, and is supported by Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW.)
Maryam Rostampour, 27, and Marzieh Amirizadeh, 30, were arrested by Iranian security officers on 5 March, after their apartment had been searched and their Bibles and other items were confiscated. Neither woman has committed a crime under Iranian or international law. At a hearing at Tehran’s Revolutionary Court on Sunday, 9 August, both women refused to recant their faith after being ordered to do so. They were subsequently returned to their cells, where their health is now rapidly deteriorating due to the overcrowded conditions and limited facilities.
In Iran, apostates (Muslims who convert to another religion) often face arbitrary arrest, indefinite detention and a host of other human rights abuses.
Mervyn Thomas, Chief Executive of CSW said: “We wholeheartedly stand in solidarity with Maryam and Marzieh, who are being held solely on the basis of exercising their most basic right: freedom of thought, conscience and belief. Scores of illegal detentions of Christian converts in Iran have been reported this year, and we strongly urge the Iranian Government to release these innocent women immediately”.

Democrat Governor Strickland of Ohio has succumbed to the heavy Islamic pressure and caved to the Islamists demand to return apostate Rifqa Bary to her devout Muslim home and hostile Noor mosque. This is a tragedy on 911 no less. What a dangerous fool. It was the mosque that spied on Rifqa and called her family repeatedly warning the parents. It was the mosque members who spied on her and ratted her out to her parents, according to Rifqa's friend Brian. They kept calling the house, warning Rifqa's parents to "get her under control".
Ohio is the most dangerous place in the world for Rifqa Bary. A police officer involved in this case from Columbus, told my source that he had talked to 20 people and almost all 20 said she was in fear for her life. If Rifqa goes back to Ohio, the family has agreed that she could stay in state custody for 30 days,. So what? What happens after the month? This is madness.
Any man that would abandoned a young girl in distress and throw the dice on a child's life is a low life. Stirckland must go. The death threats against Rifqa are very real. She is receiving them daily. The Facebook death threat fatwa against Rifqa, whose description was "we need to kill her", had 123 members (I have them all). They wwere from Ohio, Sri Lanka, and Saudi Arabia NOT FLORIDA.

This is a nail in the coffin for Strickland's race for Governor.

This is an opportunity for John Kasich who is on a hot race with Strickland for Governor. Will Kasich do the right thing. Start writing Kasich. Will he man up on 911?

Rifqa Bary: Ohio governor says send Rifqa Bary back

Gov. Ted Strickland's office says Ohio officials can protect Fathima Rifqa Bary, who ran away from her Muslim parents to Christian evangelists in Orlando Amy Edwards, Orlando Sentinel

The office of Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland has issued a statement, saying the teenage girl who ran away from her Muslim home in Columbus, Ohio, to evangelical Christians in Orlando, should be returned.

"Child welfare agencies and authorities in Ohio and Franklin County are fully capable of providing for the security and well-being of Ohio's children," said the statement. "The governor believes this is a family matter and therefore would most appropriately be handled here in Ohio with the assistance of the child welfare and foster care system."

Fathima Rifqa Bary, 17, is currently living with a foster family in the Orlando area. She fled Columbus aboard a Greyhound bus in July, saying her father had threatened to kill her because she had abandoned his faith -- Islam -- and become a Christian.

Her father, Mohamed Bary, a jeweler and Amway distributor, says that never happened. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation supports his claim. So does Franklin County Children's Services, the child welfare agency serving Columbus.

Amanda Wurst, a spokeswoman for Strickland, who is an ordained Methodist minister, first issued the statement yesterday. It puts Strickland at odds with Florida's Gov. Charlie Crist.

Three weeks ago, Crist issued a statement, saying he was grateful for a decision by Orange Circuit Judge Daniel Dawson to keep Rifqa in Florida.

Earlier that day, Crist had sent two powerful figures - Rob Wheeler, his top lawyer; and George Sheldon, secretary for the Florida Department of Children and Families – to a hearing at which the judge ruled that Rifqa should stay in Florida, at least temporarily.

"We'll continue to fight to protect Rifqa's safety and wellbeing as we move forward," said Crist in his statement.

Rifqa's story has set off a firestorm of reaction, especially among evangelical Christians. Crist's office reported today that it had received more than 10,000 pieces of e-mail about it.

Wurst said the Ohio governor's office has received more than 400 calls, e-mails and letters about the issue.

Does Edwards ever do any investigating or does she just repeat the same media lies. It was undr 10,000 emails, mails etc.

Many people have said they're sure Rifqa will be killed if she's returned to Ohio, if not by her father then by Columbus-area Muslims who believe she's dishonored them.

This is just too much for me to take in, this is like a living nightmare. God knows how Rifqa is feeling right now, I can't begin to imagine how she is feeling, her deepest fear is becoming a reality. She must feel desperate. Please someone do something about this! I have said from the very first that Rifqa Bary is the highest value target in America. Apostasy is the most egregious crime against Islam. Her crime is not just against the family. It is against Islam.
I know Ohio law enforcement and Florida law enforcement found no threat to Rifqa, but perhaps they can put down the kool aid for five minutes and do their job.
There is a pro-Islamic site on Facebook that threatens Rifqa Bary with death. Will everyone stop the PC, religion of peace nonsense, pull their heads out of their asses and get serious? Is law enforcement going to stop playing games and protect this young girl or what? Salman Rushdie did far less.
A US judge, Friday, ordered that Sri Lankan born Rifqa Bary (17), who fled to Florida from Ohio on a bus last month because she believes her parents will kill her for converting to Christianity, gets to stay in Florida as courts settle who gets custody of her. He also ordered mediation to start after the next hearing.
Achmed (an ex-Muslim) who found the site wrote,
What I don't understand is that Facebook disabled my account for two weeks at least as I spoke the truth about Islam as far as our Saviour Jesus is concerned.
Surely these people should be arrested?
Rifqa needs asylum by the US authorities NOW!!

Islamic Groups Intensify Fight Against Rifqa Bary

Rifqa Bary, the teenage girl who converted from Islam to Christianity and fled from her family after her father threatened her life, is still safe in Florida. But her ordeal is far from over.
The Islamic media and political machine is kicking into high gear, determined that Rifqa will not be free. The Islamists, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (an un-indicted co-conspirator in a terror finance case, which anti-Rifqa, pro-Islam Web sites say is working closely with the family), the Noor mosque in Ohio that her parents attend (which has numerous ties to Islamic extremists) and the others who want to make an example of Rifqa were caught off guard when Judge Daniel Dawson ruled that Florida had jurisdiction over Ohio in Rifqa�s first hearing on Aug. 21. They thought it was a done deal that Rifqa would be returned to Ohio.
She wasn�t. And she wasn�t again after a second hearing Sept. 3. So the Islamic supremacists are making up for lost time now. They have brought in the big guns. They have revved up their machine. They have fired the old lawyers and brought in their lawfare specialists.
The second hearing with the new legal team was hostile, ugly and tense. Shayan Elahi, the new Islamist lawyer for Mohamed Bary, attacked Rifqa�s lawyer, John Stemberger, repeatedly and lobbied hard for the court to appoint an attorney for Rifqa �one who would be more compliant and less personally committed to Rifqa�s welfare. This is the key element of the strategy to isolate Rifqa from her support system of people who love and care about her. Elahi has also filed petitions to ban the Lorenzes (the Christian pastor and his wife who took Rifqa in when she fled for her life), their children, and Rifqa�s friends from Ohio like Jamal Jivanjee, another convert from Islam to Christianity, from visiting Rifqa.
Dawson refused, though the adult Lorenzes will be restricted from seeing Rifqa. At this she wept bitterly on the courtroom. Dawson is fair-minded and is obviously placing Rifqa�s well being above all else, so the Islamic machine is going to try everything in its power to get her out of his courtroom. Elahi says that he will soon file a Writ of Prohibition in Florida�s Fifth District Court of Appeals to stop the proceedings. They want to move the case to Ohio, where Rifqa will be at much greater risk of being returned to her family.
To help accomplish that, Elahi is also filing for �psychiatric� evaluation of Rifqa. They can�t say she is an �unruly delinquent,� as she has no history of promiscuity, drug abuse or alcohol. So they will say she is crazy.
Will they depose the uncle who allegedly sexually abused her? Her mother knew about it and did nothing. I am sure the father didn�t know, as Rifqa would have been punished unmercifully: the female victim is always at fault. How many lashes do rape victims get in Islamic countries? 99.
There have been many other indications that Rifqa was physically abused. On several occasions friends of Rifqa would bring her down to the school counselor because of bruises on her legs and her arms, and beatings suffered at the hands of her father and brother. The middle school, in a serious dereliction of duty, did not report these beatings to child welfare services.
Beatings were random, violent, unprovoked. Take, for example, when Rifqa and her father were driving in the car. He would force her to wear the hijab, which she hated. In her discomfort she would slouch down, embarrassed, and her father would haul off and sock her in the face so that she never forgot to sit up straight in her costume. The beatings were regular and so much a part of the landscape of Rifqa�s life that she became inured to them, just like Amina and Sarah Said, who were allegedly murdered by their father in Texas for having non-Muslim boyfriends; Aqsa Parvez, who was allegedly murdered by her father in Canada for not wearing the Islamic headscarf; and every honor killing victim.
No one in the mainstream media picked any of this up. They are running only the narrative that Rifqa�s parents are the victims of �Islamophobia,� and that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) found no indication of abuse.
Yet that report is questionable. When Dawson asked the FDLE to investigate the Columbus, Ohio Islamic community to see if it posed a threat to Rifqa, Omar Alomari, director of the Ohio Department of Public Safety�s Office of Multicultural Affairs, led FDLE investigators on a wild goose chase. According to the Jawa Report, Alomari wrote a booklet published by the ODPS, �Cultural Guide to Arabic and Islamic Cultures�. In it, he refers people to CAIR and to the Muslim Brotherhood�s U.S. arm, the Muslim American Society.
The coverage of Rifqa Bary�s hearing in the decrepit mainstream media is appalling and dishonest. And with the Islamists the media loves so much revving up their anti-Rifqa campaign, it�s going to get even worse.

Impromptu and on the fly, I had the good fortune to do an interview with Rifqa Bary's dear friend, Brian Williams. We were exchanging emails on facebook and he was happy to talk to me, as the media was manufacturing a dishonest, anti-Christian, anti-Rifqa narrative. Brian is a missionary and is the Pastor in Ohio who baptized Rifqa this year. He was very much a big brother to her. Williams was very aware of what Rifqa was dealing with. She lived a double life. A life of constant fear: fear of her father, her family and mosque members.
It was the mosque members who spied on her and ratted her out to her parents. According to Brian, they kept calling the house, warning Rifqa's parents to "get her under control or else". Her mother said to Rifqa, after to speaking to mosque members, "you are not my daughter" -- and that she would be "sent back to Sri Lanka and put into a place" for apostates.
When Rifqa Bary ran for her life and the police found religious writings among Rifqa's things, the police threatened Williams with arrest if "Rifqa did not appear in the next 24 hours". Immediately afterward he was contacted by the Kansas City police, who searched his home looking for Rifqa. The police had it wrong.
The interview is a half hour and reveals much. Rifqa's family is devout and has a deep pride in its many generations of pious Muslims. Her grandfather was an imam.
Brian also said the depiction of the father as a warm caring man is completely dishonest. The claim that the father came to the States for medical treatment of Rifqa's eye was just media propaganda. Brian explained that the family used Rifqa's medical condition to get into this country.
Does that media get any of this story? Newsweek did an article on Rifqa that broke today. It is pure evil. Truly disgusting.
It kicks off like this,

John Stemberger, a conservative Christian lawyer who was involved in the battle over Terri Schiavo, the Florida woman kept alive with a feeding tube until it was disconnected in 2005. He and various right-wing groups have unleashed a barrage of allegations against Bary's parents and a mosque they attend in Columbus, Ohio. Yet as Krista Bartholomew, Bary's guardian ad litem (appointed by the court to offer guidance on the girl's best interests), said in a hearing last Thursday, "This is not a holy war. This is a case about a frightened little girl and a broken family."

Get it? Then in describing the father:

Mohamed and Aysha Bary left Sri Lanka in 2000 with their two kids, Rifqa and an older brother, and moved to New York (their third child, a boy, was born in the United States). The reason: concern about Rifqa's well-being. As a child, she'd fallen on a toy airplane that pierced her right eye. Doctors in Sri Lanka wanted to remove the eye, prompting Mohamed to relocate the whole family so Rifqa could obtain better medical treatment. In the end, her eye was spared, though she can't see out of it. Then, in 2004, Mohamed moved the family again, this time to seek a better public education for the kids. He settled on the Columbus area, which had highly ranked schools. At New Albany High School, Rifqa excelled. She maintained a 3.5 grade-point average and became a member of the cheerleading squad.

Rifqa did not fall on a toy plane. Her brother threw a hard object at her eye and caused her blindness. And her father did not get her "better medical treatment". He used it to get to America (according to Williams). Newsweek goes on to say, "in the end her eye was spared, though she can't see out of it". Huh?
And what does Newsweek Newswrong say about apostasy? In the whole article there is one parenthetical remark. Did they interview any apostates in America and ask them about the constant threat of death they live under (ie Wafa Sultan, Nonie Darwish, Ibn Warraq)?

(Muslim scholars say that in Islam, there's no such thing as an honor killing for apostasy.)

That's it. Who did they speak to? Ibrahim Hooper?
Armaros described it this way:

It all starts out as if they speak of two sides, but subtly they bring up devout christian, Pro-life meetings, Lawyer linked to Sciavo case to slowly demonize her and her conversion. Slowly the Newsweek report merges with the Mohamed Bary- Cair propaganda.

No more two sides, just theirs, the victims of the right wing and only their version of the story as why they left NY, the business shenanigans etc..are not outlined from two perspectives anymore.

Then it goes into out right lies and obfuscation like this:

"Mohamed says Rifqa's behavior began to change more markedly at the beginning of this summer. She became withdrawn, barely speaking to him when they drove places together. She rejected the company of her little brother, with whom she'd always been affectionate. She would stay up late, reading her Bible on the balcony. Aysha also found books in the girl's room that she found troubling, like Is the Injeel Corrupted? (Its author, Fouad Masri, believes that "radical Islam is a reflection of a spiritual thirst that can only be quenched through the teachings and the life of Christ," according to one of his press releases.) Moreover, Rifqa was constantly on Facebook, interacting with people her parents had no clue about. "We were worried," says Mohamed...

...Once Bary's case became public, numerous Christian conservatives fanned the flames. "This conflict between Islam and Christianity is going to grow greater," said Blake Lorenz, according to the St. Petersburg Times. "This conflict between good and evil is going to grow greater." Stemberger, Bary's lawyer, filed a 33-page memorandum in her case that's filled with innuendo and provocative allegations against the Noor Center, the mosque that the Barys occasionally attend (on a conference call with reporters, Stemberger insisted that the accusations have been "documented extensively"). Among them: that the center is connected to an FBI terror probe (which the FBI denies) (there was no terror probe there were terror probes of individuals who preached there) and that its CEO has connections to the Muslim Brotherhood (which, along with every other allegation, the Noor Center denies). The mosque is actually regarded as mainstream and regularly hosts interfaith events. "Unfortunately, hate groups appear to be using this family matter as an opportunity to attack the Muslim community and Islamic organizations in order to further their religious and political goals," the center said in a statement.

So notice the Alinsky takkiya again. There are two supposed allegations: FBI probe and Noor CEO-MB connection.
But one is misrepresented on purpose to appear deniable and then is attached to the second allegation which is true but now denied by the discrediting of the first one thus all allegations appearing to be discredited on the whole.

On the hearing, I was there:

The court proceedings have been no less combative. At an arraignment last week, the Barys formally denied the allegations made against them.

The Barys were not there. They were on the phone and said NOT A WORD during the entire hearing.

During the proceedings, eight attorneys representing various parties—Rifqa, her parents, and DCF among them—clashed repeatedly, prompting Rifqa to cry at one point.

She cried because Shayan Elahi (the new Islamist attorney for Mohamed Bary) tried to stop all of the people whom Rifqa loved from coming to visit - Jamal Jivajee, The Lorenzes, the Lorenz children.

The judge overseeing the case, Daniel Dawson, has ordered the parties into mediation, but it's clear that is unlikely to get anywhere.

Mediation won't work because Shayan Elahi was insisting it was a waste of time despite Judge Dawson's insistence. Dawson was thisclose to citing Elahi with contempt of court.

THE BRIAN WILLIAMS INTERVIEW WITH PAMELA GELLER TRANSCRIPT

The magnificent Ken at Tundra Tabloid is working through the morning (well, my NY early morning, he's in Finland) transcribing it for Atlasians. Here are excerpts of the transcription of the Williams interview, which I will try to get all up later in the day. Williams is quoted extensively in the Newspuke piece.

Atlas: Can you tell me a little bit about her home life, what she was living with, during those four years she was a Christian? What was she dealing with at home?

BW: From the moment I met her, she shared her story about that at home, she had to hide the fact that she was a Christian from her parents. And she would have to sneak out and go to church services on the weekend, when most kids are sneaking off to party, you know, she was sneaking to go out to prayer meetings and church services as a kid. But she was telling me stories of how her father had found little evidences of traces of biblical writings or things around the house, and that each time he would find those things he would get progressively more upset with her, and at times he would tighten up on her, you know like send her to the mosque and make her attend these classes on the weekend, I think she told me that these class last four or five hours on Saturday.

She told me about an instance where I think he found a Bible or some kind of Christian book, picked up a laptop, cornered her, and was about to hit her with the laptop and told her that he would kill her, if she was a Christian. She told me about sexual abuse that happened, and I kept these things under a tight lip just because I don't think that anyone wanted to wrestle with it, and I just think that in America that so many people are in denial that this is happens all over the world. When you approach people about it and kind of how you see it in the media, people just don't want to believe it, but it's true, it happened, people really died, blood really gets spilled.

And she was constantly in fear of that, and I think that the whole time that I've known her, is really why the reason I've kept in contact with her, because she would email me and just from her stories about the things her father and mother would say to her, that had her terrified. So I just kind of tried to be there for her.

Atlas: You see the reason why I'm asking these questions, I know that it's painful, I know that it's a painful subject, I know that it's difficult, but frankly, no one is discussing Rifqa. No one is discussing Rifqa's story, no one is discussing the real fears that Rifqa has and the real threats that she faces. And I'm sure Brian that you see that this is being played out in the media to a very hostile press. A press that in Florida particularly, because they're the ones covering it, painting her out to be some kind of trollop with the dark red fingernail polish and the hand blown kisses.

I was in the front row and she wasn't blowing any kisses, she was actually weeping but that's something else. But I must saying that the people that are not there like me or like you, where we know what's happening. They're getting this tripe, they're getting this propaganda from the media, and so it's very important, while it may not be very comfortable for you to talk about the threats she faced, what abuse she suffered. I have to tell you that it is incumbent upon you to tell her story. Because she can't. You know she can't because it's the DCF that controlling everyone that talks to her now, the Lorenzes have been restricted. And I see the new lawyer is really trying to isolate her from everyone that she trusts, She was crying when they said that the Lorenz's were restricted. They are trying to get John Stemburger removed as her lawyer, all the people that she relies on, all the people that she trusts.

Let me ask you, Is that not what it's about, it not about apostasy in Islam and what a egregious thing, what an egregious crime it is, a shame it is on the family, and in this particular case, unlike Amina Said, Aqsa Parvez and the other girls in the West that have been murdered, this is a crime against Islam?

BW: Yeah and you know that Rifqa comes from a family that has a strong Muslim heritage, I believe she told me at one point that her father, ah not her father but her grandfather was an Imam and that she was the first Christian in the history of her family that's known and that any anyone in her relations have been a Christian, so for her the issue of apostasy is incredibly shameful to her this family, and they tried to turn this issue into being what kind of Muslims live in Sri Lanka and that her family are liberal Muslims and that's totally not the case at all.

Her grandfather was an Imam, so think that this is something that people need to pay attention to as far as apostasy is concerned. This is happening all over the world, it's spread through Europe, this situation in the UK has escalated to epic proportions and now you're seeing things starting to infiltrate over here in the United states. So I think that it is something that America needs to wake up.

Atlas: Now when she described the tough situation at home, did she give any details in terms of what exactly, what kinds of threats or abuse or at the hands of her father or mother or the brother for that matter, the older brother, the one that threw the thing at her eye, that she lost her eye? Did she ever describe to you any of the particular details of what exactly, apart from the obvious death threat which was why she really ran at the time, other than that, was there any other conversations that you had that she discussed with you in particular what she was suffering under? She was definitely afraid, she was living a double life which is in of itself is very difficult.

BW: Right. As far as isolated incidences, there is the incident I think, I'm not sure if it's in her affidavit or not, but incidents where her mother upon finding Christian books that I actually gave her, informed her father about it and then told her that they were going to send her back to Sri Lanka to be dealt with, possibly put into an asylum where they would try to, I guess salvage her and reconvert her back to Islam.

The thing with her was that her parents, they thought that just the western influence, like the Christianity, they thought that that had something to do with, being around American school kids, they didn't really understand that this was something that she had done years ago. So they would send her to the mosque, try to recondition her I guess. and once they found out that she was baptized, when I baptized her I think is when tensions escalated to the highest.

Brian Williams: Ok , Yes, I've been seeing some reports here of trying to paint her father as a sincere man and who sought medical care for his daughter and taken that instance, but to be honest with you, that's just the meal ticket into the United States, and I think that was the point that I wanted to make with that, because there is absolutely no history....

The police in Columbus Ohio, I think one of the sergeants came on record and said, "that he comes off with me as a warm loving man", and I'm just like, "really?" A really warm loving man who tells his daughter that he's going to kill her. They'll take anything, and people like, Michael Kruse, whatever his name is,

Atlas: They're terrible, but when she's free and she's able to travel on her own, I'm hoping that she comes to New York, because I have somebody that will fit her eye with a perfect eye, and you won't know that she doesn't have vision in that eye. I'm hoping that, but she has to be eighteen, but just that she knows that's in her future. You know, that's in her future.

BW: I've talked to her about that, she believes that Jesus is going to heal her eye.

Atlas: I don't know if his name is Jesus, (laughter) but there is a great opthalmologist in New York that is just as close I guess. I really want to thank you Brian for doing this podcast with me, you are really a righteous person and really good. You are really holding yourself up for great ridicule and you know that , and coming to this girl's defense, because that's what they do, they smear those that come to save her from a terrible fate.

You can see that they are doing that with her lawyer, they paint him out to be some kind of Christian conservative whacko or whatever, and you know myself as some right-wing nut. This is what they do. They ridicule, they polarize, they marginalize and this is what they try to her. You see what they did to Lorenz, I mean that's criminal in my book.

And so you are putting yourself out there and for that I say thank you, because it's no small thing because they're vicious, vicious.

A Jewish man named Perry Baker ( christian) who is doing a life sentence

without parole in Iowa State prison watched us on TV in 2006. He then sent a donation

to support feeding the Palestinians. Perry over dosed soon after on a kilo of cocaine.

He said he flat lined in the hospital and ask God to give him 15 more years like Hezekiah

prayed. They sentenced him to 1 1/2 years in the black hole.

Perry explained this hole as a place of no contact with any people and twice a week you go

out in a cage for one hour. After awhile they gave him a TV and Perry said he thought he was

loosing his mind. One night at midnight he found our TV show airing. Perry said life shot into

his body as I said, pray for Perry Baker in the prison as I thanked him for the donation.

He said he could not believe he was hearing his name and at that moment knew the Lord was

still with him. He has had no visitors in years and melted when I walked into the prison in Iowa

to visit him a couple days ago where he shared this story. I was undone by the testimony.

Imagine- in a black hole and hearing the Lord calling your name on TV.

Matthew 25:34 Come you blessed of My father and , inherit the kingdom prepared for you from

the foundation of the world. 36 For I was in the prison, and you came to Me. 40 and the King will

say to them, Truly I say to you, to the extent you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the

least of them, you did it to Me.

The goodness of God is coming for you where ever you are at. From a refugee camp in Gaza to a

black hole in USA. Everyone is important to God and He will move mountains for those in need.

Fathima Rifqa Bary is a pretty, outgoing seventeen year old girl from New Albany, Ohio, a comfortable middle class suburb of Columbus.

Rifqa completed her Junior Year at New Albany High School, a nationally recognized school of excellence, where she was a model student. She earned good grades, was a popular cheerleader, and even held a part-time job at a local restaurant.

When you see photos of Rifqa, you can just imagine her preparing for college while participating in such traditional Senior Year activities as Homecoming and Prom. But the promising and idyllic image of Rifqa's all-American-girl life was publicly shattered this summer when the teenager abruptly fled her Ohio home in fear for her life and surfaced in Orlando, Florida three weeks later.

As it turned out, Rifqa was living a private life and was constantly fearful of being discovered. When this secret was exposed to her parents by members of the Bary family's religious congregation - threats were made that scared Rifqa to the point where she felt forced to undertake drastic measures to save herself.

Her secret? Her crime? She converted from Islam to Christianity. Rifqa is an apostate and guilty of treason under the Islamic Code of Law, Sharia. The penalty according to the Koran and supporting historical and contemporary Islamic Jurisprudence is death.

In her own words, Rifqa elaborates on her fears of being a victim of honor killing: "I was threatened by my dad," Rifqa told media. "I had a laptop, and he took that laptop and waved it in the air and he was about to beat me with it, and he said, ‘ If you have this Jesus in your heart, you're dead to me. You're not my daughter.’ And I refused to speak but he said, ‘I will kill you. Tell me the truth.’ So I knew that I had to get away."

“ In 150 generations in my family no one has known Jesus - I am the first one. Imagine the honor in killing me, ” she said in a video interview now posted on YouTube.
Currently Rifqa is safe in Orlando under the protection of Florida's Department of Children and Families (DCF). She would like to remain with the foster family she's staying with now, but her fate is yet to be determined by Juvenile Court Judge Daniel Dawson. He must decide if Rifqa should remain in Florida, pending further investigation of affidavits in submission to the Court, or returned to the custody of DCF in Ohio. Ohio authorities are anxious to reunite Rifqa with her family - a move that is terrifying for Rifqa.

The next hearing for Rifqa's case will be held in Orlando on September 3, 2009. The Florida Security Council (FSC) is urging supporters and activists all over the state to contact Governor Charlie Crist and urge him to allow Rifqa to stay in Florida. There will also be demonstrations of support at the courthouse to help raise public awareness of Rifqa' case.

To The Honorable Judge Dawson:
The First Amendment speaks plainly and directly. Citizens of the United States are free to pursue their religious beliefs or, if they so choose, are free to ignore religious belief. That freedom is embedded in our way of life; it is not coincidental that religious liberty is mentioned before freedom of speech and assembly. Moreover, the Constitution makes transparently clear that an established church will not exist in this nation.
I state the obvious because as George Orwell noted at a moment of confusion the first duty of intelligent people is the restatement of the obvious.You, sir, are obliged to consider the case of Rifqa Bary, a young woman from Ohio, who left her Muslim faith and converted to Christianity. Such conversion is common practice in the United States and is doubtless a matter of personal conviction.

However, in Ms. Bary's case her conversion has put her life at risk. Apostasy is regarded as a capital offense in the Koran to be punished by death. Should you rule that family unification trumps religious freedom, there is the possibility Rifqa will be returned to her country of origin to face her imminent demise.

Recognizing this likely fate, she ran away from her Ohio home and parents hoping that the Constitution in her adopted country would serve as protection. That, of course, may not be the case; which, in my judgment, would not only be a tragedy for Rifqa, but a tragedy for America.

Our common law history does not impose or allow for the imposition of Sharia in the land of the free. The founders understand the need for the separation of Church and State, notwithstanding the role religion plays as a guiding hand in state related matters. But they could not and would not countenance the integration of the two as demanded by Islam.

As a consequence, this case involves more than one youthful life; it represents a defense of our Constitution and our way of life. Just as a Christian can covert to Islam; a Muslim should be free to covert to Christianity whatever her parents think and whatever the Koran indicates.

To suggest anything else is to allow Islam to be superordinated over our law and tradition. If there was ever a time to assert our beliefs and customs, this is it. Americans are increasingly unsure about what this nation stands for. But there really isn't ambiguity about this matter. Sharia is not our custom or our law and you, sir, should not recognize it as dispositive in your legal judgment.

Rifqa's cause should prevail because this recent immigrant is fighting for the most basic of American principles. She is our Joan of Arc and I ardently hope you will recognize the need to assert traditional jurisprudential precedent in this case.

Initial investigations indicate that Rifqa Bary’s family attend the Noor Islamic Cultural Center in the Columbus, Ohio area.

This mosque follows the doctrines of authoritative Islam and has been associated with certain individuals who are viewed as threats to the Unites States, and in fact have been deported or prevented from entering the United States.

In order to fully determine if Rifqa Bary would be a potential victim of an "honor killing", we call upon state and federal authorities to thoroughly investigate this Ohio mosque. Questions of the radical nature of this mosque center heavily on its leadership and sponsorship of extremist speakers, who have ties to the financing of terrorism and terrorist organizations such as Hamas.

In addition, the NICC is also linked to the ongoing investigation into the disappearances of young Somali-Americans. Some of these missing young men have been found to be in training at camps run by the Al-Shabaab terror organization, a group linked to Al-Qaeda.
NOOR’s Chairman of the Board, Dr. Hany Saqr, has been identified in exhibits produced by the Federal Government in the Holyland terrorism financing trials, as being a member of the leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) in North America.

Most every Islamic terrorist group operating across the globe today has ties to the MB. The long-term goal of the Muslim Brotherhood is the imposition of Sharia Law internationally, in every country and every culture. Jihad is the means by which they intend to achieve this goal.

For the time being, it should be safe to say, that anyone associated with the Noor Center (however innocently) is exposed to the most radical interpretations of Islam.

Newspaper coverage of the missing teen reveals claims of Rifqa:s friends that perhaps the trouble in the family is related to a quarrel over religion.

Friends claim Rifqa was abused, and frightened of her parents. Police discount these claims, suggesting that the Barys are loving parents who miss their daughter and would never hurt her. These conclusions are drawn prior to any actual police contact with Rifqa herself.
Pamela Geller, editor of Atlas Shrugs, leads the effort to draw attention to Rifqa’s case in the blogosphere.
Geller’s site has also prominently featured the horrific honor killing stories of Sarah and Amina Said, and Aqsa Parvez - young girls like Rifqa, who were murdered by their fathers.

Orlando attorney John Stemberger offers to represent Rifqa pro-bono and preparations are undertaken for the upcoming August 21st hearing to determine whether the State of Florida has jurisdiction in the Rifqa Bary case.
This is significant for Rifqa, who is now under the protective custody of DCF, with a guardian-ad-litem, and the added protection of counsel who will be her strongest advocate - regardless of political, media, or public pressures.

August 21, 2009
This is the big day for Rifqa, as the much anticipated hearing takes place.
There are demonstrations of support outside the courthouse, and a full-court press compliment covering the story.

Inside the courtroom, DCF Secretary George Sheldon attends the proceedings with DCF counsel and his top staff.
It is a rare occurrence for the Secretary to attend such hearings.

The Bary family arrives from Ohio.
The parents, having declared themselves to be indigent, have been provided with attorneys at Florida taxpayer expense.

Judge Daniel Dawson determines that Florida does indeed have jurisdiction in the matter, by virtue of the fact there is no open case involving Rifqa in Ohio.

He further asks for an FDLE investigation of Rifqa’s claims based on the petition presented; as well as copies of the Bary Family visas and passports in order to properly determine the immigration status of the Barys.
These documents are to be produced at the upcoming September 3rd hearing he scheduled.

Additionally, Rifqa and her parents make statements to the court.
Rifqa declines to meet with her parents, agreeing to visit with her brothers, though.
Visits with Rifqa will be supervised by DCF and videotaped in a safe location.

The Last Days of August
Rifqa is safe with her foster family, but she is surrounded by a legal and media storm.
Having predicted that Rifqa would be returned to Ohio immediately after the August 21 jurisdiction hearing, the media are in shock!

Much of the mainstream coverage becomes more pronouncedly doubtful of Rifqa and her claims.
Her parents are repeatedly quoted as saying they love their daughter and have no problem with her conversion.
But where is the independent media investigation of the radical mosque these same parents belong to?
There are allegations Rifqa was brainwashed or kidnapped by crazy Christian cultists.
There is no evidence of this, and yet the allegations are repeated as fact.

In fact, the smearing of Christians is the media strategy of CAIR.

Two Christian girls. Two sets of distraught parents. And two state courts smack in the middle of it.
One of these courts is in New Hampshire, where a judge recently ordered that home-schooled Amanda Kurowski be sent to public school.
The order signed by Family Court Justice Lucinda V. Sandler says the 10-year-old's Christian faith could use some shaking up - and that the local public school is just the place to do it.
So while the child's lawyers at the Alliance Defense Fund, a Christian legal outfit, filed a motion asking the judge to reconsider, last week Amanda started fifth grade at a local public school.

Five thousand honor killings testify to the danger Rifqa Bary faces.

"I don't know if you know about honor killings? But this faith - you guys don't understand, Islam is very different than you guys think." So avows runaway apostate Rifqa Bary, the focus of a so-called dependency battle that is expanding into a national debate on the conflict between Islamic mores and American freedom.
The 17-year-old had been practicing Christianity in secret for four years when she fled her home in central Ohio in July, fearing for her life after her parents discovered her defection. The Sri Lankan Bary family has been in the U.S. since 2000.
The girl, describing her parents as "devout Muslims," can be seen on WFTV's website telling her story to one of the station's reporters. She speaks from the Florida home of Blake and Beverly Lorenz, a pastor couple with the Global Revolution Church who took her in.
"They have to kill me," Miss Bary says. "My blood is now halal, which means that because I'm now a Christian - I'm from a Muslim background - it's an honor. If they love God more than me, they have to do this. I'm fighting for my life, you guys don't understand." The juxtaposition of American teen lingo with medieval precepts is a chilling confirmation that a long-understood reality in Europe is only now dawning on American minds. "You guys talk about religious freedom? No - I don't have that...I don't want to die."
At Thursday's hearing before a packed Orlando courtroom, Judge Daniel Dawson rejected pleas from Mohamed and Aysha Bary to send their daughter back to Ohio, confirming she will remain in Florida pending investigation, with another hearing scheduled for Sept. 29.
Miss Bary's counsel, John Stemberger, has filed a sworn affidavit from his client, underlining her father's close connection to Ohio's Noor Islamic Cultural Center, and a 33-page report on the mosque's ties to the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood. Noor spokesmen have entered the fray, denying the evidence and claiming there is no such thing as death for apostasy in Islamic law.
Extensive coverage in the Orlando Sentinel echoes the narrative developed by the local Council on American-Islamic Relations chapter, which is campaigning against anyone who defends Miss Bary.
They both dismiss the purportedly melodramatic fears of a gullible teen exploited by Christian zealots, defended by Islamophobes bent on fomenting religious war, and opportunist politicians fishing for the right wing vote.
"[Mr.] Bary is a middle-class jeweler with no documented history of abuse and no record of radical actions or beliefs," the Orlando Sentinel's Mike Thomas wrote last month in a piece alleging anti-Muslim bias in Miss Bary's case.
Mr. Thomas seems to see no reason why Mr. Bary would kill his daughter-after all, he said in court she would be free to worship as she chooses.
Miss Bary affirms in a sworn affidavit that her father said, "in a fit of anger that I had never seen before in my life…'If you have this Jesus in your heart, you are dead to me! You are no longer my daughter…I will kill you!'"
Can an outside observer weigh the measure of truth in each of these assertions and dismiss Ms. Bary's fears as adolescent histrionics? Five thousand victims of honor killings annually world-wide, according to a conservative U.N. estimate, bear witness against Mr. Thomas's placid supposition. Women in Muslim countries and immigrant communities everywhere fall prey to an elaborate legal code enforced by torture and murder that deprives them of their civil rights, their human rights, their right to exist.
Sharia-sanctioned death for apostasy was recently confirmed by Harvard chaplain Taha Abdul-Basser, who sparked controversy in April when a private e-mail discussing punishment for leaving Islam was made public. Mr. Abdul-Basser notes, "There is great wisdom (hikma) associated with the established and preserved position (capital punishment) and so, even if it makes some uncomfortable in the face of the hegemonic modern human rights discourse, one should not dismiss it out of hand."
As for human rights, the 1990 Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam, affirmed by 54 Muslim countries, notes these can be restricted for "Sharia-prescribed reasons," including forced marriage and death for apostasy.
European awareness of honor killings contrasts with the artificial ignorance surrounding Ms. Bary's case in the U.S. Europeans can't ignore the specificity of savage murders of "wayward" girls who want the freedoms of their adopted countries. Stories of runaways enticed to come home and let all be forgiven, only to be met by their executioners, abound on the continent. Banaz Mahmod, a 20-year-old Iraqi refugee in London, was murdered by her father and uncle in 2006 after police dismissed her requests for protection. In 2002, 17-year-old Sohane Benziane was burned alive in a Paris suburb by a fellow teenager. In April, a 20-year-old Turkish man was jailed for allegedly strangling, beating and ultimately killing his twin sister, Gulsum Semin, after learning of her abortion, Agence France-Presse reported.
Europeans cannot escape the headlines. European police met in The Hague in 2004 to confer on a strategy to combat honor killings. The Council of Europe published a report in June warning the practice is increasingly common in France, Sweden, the Netherlands, the U.K. and Turkey.
A nationwide safety net against this form of oppression has developed in France, which hosts Europe's largest Muslim population. There, a minor like Ms. Bary who feels threatened by her family can find associations offering counseling and asylum, from Voix de Femmes (Voice of Women) formed by an Algerian victim of a forced marriage, to a safe house association in Montpellier, to Ni Putes Ni Soumises (Neither Whores Nor Doormats), created in the wake of Ms. Benziane's immolation. Young women railroaded into marriage while on vacation in their parents' home country can turn to French consular officials for help.
No one would doubt Miss Bary's story.
"Do you really think that this is true, or do you think this is just a threat?" the journalist asks in the WFTV video.
Miss Bary, doubled up in anguish, begs not for mercy but for lucidity.
"How many more cases do you want? There's case after case, there's hundreds of them, I am one - I am one of hundreds."
How many more must die?

Rifqa Bary: How can Law Enforcement Declare there is No Threat When U.S. Apostates Live Under Constant Death Threat?

The whole argument concerning Rifqa Bary's safety is fallacious. Apostates in America live under constant death threat. Wafa Sultan lives under 24 hour guard because she is an apostate and has the courage to speak out against it. Today alone Sultan received a very real and credible death threat.
Why? Because she is an apostate. The threat to Rifqa Bary is a fact. The threat comes not just from her devout Muslim family, but from the devout Muslim community she lives in. Who would gamble with her life? What soulless advocate would argue to throw the dice on her life?
William McGurn in today's Wall Street Journal:
Christian girls. Two sets of distraught parents. And two state courts smack in the middle of it.

One of these courts is in New Hampshire, where a judge recently ordered that home-schooled Amanda Kurowski be sent to public school. The order signed by Family Court Justice Lucinda V. Sandler says the 10-year-old's Christian faith could use some shaking up—and that the local public school is just the place to do it. So while the child's lawyers at the Alliance Defense Fund, a Christian legal outfit, filed a motion asking the judge to reconsider, last week Amanda started fifth grade at a local public school.

At about the same time Miss Kurowski was starting school in New Hampshire, a state court in Florida was considering what to do with 17-year-old Rifqa Bary. Miss Bary fled to Florida from Ohio a few weeks back, where she sought refuge with a Christian couple whose church she had learned about on Facebook. She says she ran away from home because her father discovered she'd become a Christian—and then threatened to kill her. On Thursday, Circuit Judge Daniel Dawson ordered the girl and her family to try mediation and set a pretrial hearing for the end of the month.

Miss Bary's case doesn't fit neatly into the standard categories. On the one hand, Mr. and Mrs. Bary are flying the parental-rights flag typically associated with conservatives. They say that whatever fears their daughter has of them have been put in her head by evangelical Christians hostile to Islam.

If what has spilled out into the press is true, moreover, law-enforcement findings in both Ohio and Florida support the parents. The Barys say they are willing to let their daughter practice whatever religion she wishes; they just want her home. Would Islamic fundamentalists, they ask, allow their daughter to be a cheerleader?

On the other hand, the fear of an honor killing—even in the United States—is not irrational. In Texas last year, an Egyptian-born father (still sought by authorities) is thought to have murdered his two daughters because they dated non-Muslim men. A few months later in Georgia, a Pakistani man told cops he strangled his daughter because she wanted out of an arranged marriage.

Miss Bary's case is different in that it involves a conversion, and has become entangled in a heated public debate about how Islam deals with apostates. According to Miss Bary and her supporters, those who say she's in no danger from her family or other Muslims are being naive. Is it worth taking the risk, they ask, given that she is less than a year away from turning 18, when she would be free to decide for herself?

In the end, Rifqa Bary's case comes down to this: Will the Florida court find credible her statement that her father "said he would kill me. Or he'd have me sent back to Sri Lanka where they'd put me in the asylum"?

Islamic Groups Intensify Fight Against Rifqa Bary

Rifqa Bary, the teenage girl who converted from Islam to Christianity and fled from her family after her father threatened her life, is still safe in Florida. But her ordeal is far from over.

The Islamic media and political machine is kicking into high gear, determined that Rifqa will not be free. The Islamists, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (an un-indicted co-conspirator in a terror finance case, which anti-Rifqa, pro-Islam Web sites say is working closely with the family), the Noor mosque in Ohio that her parents attend (which has numerous ties to Islamic extremists) and the others who want to make an example of Rifqa were caught off guard when Judge Daniel Dawson ruled that Florida had jurisdiction over Ohio in Rifqa’s first hearing on Aug. 21. They thought it was a done deal that Rifqa would be returned to Ohio.

She wasn’t. And she wasn’t again after a second hearing Sept. 3. So the Islamic supremacists are making up for lost time now. They have brought in the big guns. They have revved up their machine. They have fired the old lawyers and brought in their lawfare specialists.

The second hearing with the new legal team was hostile, ugly and tense. Shayan Elahi, the new Islamist lawyer for Mohamed Bary, attacked Rifqa’s lawyer, John Stemberger, repeatedly and lobbied hard for the court to appoint an attorney for Rifqa —one who would be more compliant and less personally committed to Rifqa’s welfare. This is the key element of the strategy to isolate Rifqa from her support system of people who love and care about her. Elahi has also filed petitions to ban the Lorenzes (the Christian pastor and his wife who took Rifqa in when she fled for her life), their children, and Rifqa’s friends from Ohio like Jamal Jivanjee, another convert from Islam to Christianity, from visiting Rifqa.

Dawson refused, though the adult Lorenzes will be restricted from seeing Rifqa. At this she wept bitterly on the courtroom. Dawson is fair-minded and is obviously placing Rifqa’s well being above all else, so the Islamic machine is going to try everything in its power to get her out of his courtroom. Elahi says that he will soon file a Writ of Prohibition in Florida’s Fifth District Court of Appeals to stop the proceedings. They want to move the case to Ohio, where Rifqa will be at much greater risk of being returned to her family.

To help accomplish that, Elahi is also filing for “psychiatric” evaluation of Rifqa. They can’t say she is an “unruly delinquent,” as she has no history of promiscuity, drug abuse or alcohol. So they will say she is crazy.
Will they depose the uncle who allegedly sexually abused her? Her mother knew about it and did nothing. I am sure the father didn’t know, as Rifqa would have been punished unmercifully: the female victim is always at fault. How many lashes do rape victims get in Islamic countries? 99.

There have been many other indications that Rifqa was physically abused. On several occasions friends of Rifqa would bring her down to the school counselor because of bruises on her legs and her arms, and beatings suffered at the hands of her father and brother. The middle school, in a serious dereliction of duty, did not report these beatings to child welfare services.

Beatings were random, violent, unprovoked. Take, for example, when Rifqa and her father were driving in the car. He would force her to wear the hijab, which she hated. In her discomfort she would slouch down, embarrassed, and her father would haul off and sock her in the face so that she never forgot to sit up straight in her costume. The beatings were regular and so much a part of the landscape of Rifqa’s life that she became inured to them, just like Amina and Sarah Said, who were allegedly murdered by their father in Texas for having non-Muslim boyfriends; Aqsa Parvez, who was allegedly murdered by her father in Canada for not wearing the Islamic headscarf; and every honor killing victim.

No one in the mainstream media picked any of this up. They are running only the narrative that Rifqa’s parents are the victims of “Islamophobia,” and that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) found no indication of abuse.

Yet that report is questionable. When Dawson asked the FDLE to investigate the Columbus, Ohio Islamic community to see if it posed a threat to Rifqa, Omar Alomari, director of the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Office of Multicultural Affairs, led FDLE investigators on a wild goose chase. According to the Jawa Report, Alomari wrote a booklet published by the ODPS, “Cultural Guide to Arabic and Islamic Cultures”. In it, he refers people to CAIR and to the Muslim Brotherhood’s U.S. arm, the Muslim American Society.

The coverage of Rifqa Bary’s hearing in the decrepit mainstream media is appalling and dishonest. And with the Islamists the media loves so much revving up their anti-Rifqa campaign, it’s going to get even worse.

THE SLEEPING CHURCH IN OHIO, THE COMING AMERICAN PERSECUTION, AND RIFQA BARY’S TESTIMONY ON FOX NEWS…

Dear church,

By now, many of you have heard about the Rifqa Bary situation throughout the news. I can honestly say that this situation to stand up on behalf of Rifqa Bary has been one of the proudest and challenging fights of my life thus far. What I am coming to grips with however, is exactly how extensive and widespread Rifqa’s testimony of Jesus actually is. I am convinced that Rifqa’s testimony of Jesus is actually a taste, or forerunner, of the season that the American church is getting ready to enter into. Revelation 19:10 says: “…For the Testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

What am I talking about? I’m talking about suffering and persecution for holding to the TRUE testimony of Jesus. I have had the privilege of looking and talking with followers of Jesus from different nations around the globe who have suffered tremendously because of their faith in Jesus, but I have rarely seen that here in this nation. I have often wondered what it would look like for the church to truly see persecution here in America. What would cause it? What would the accusations be? How would the church respond?

Well, I never thought I’d get the answers to those questions in my lifetime, but now the answers to those questions are coming now faster than I could ever have imagined because of a little girl’s (Rifqa Bary) TRUE testimony of Jesus. What I want to do in the next few minutes is talk about the difference between a TRUE testimony of Jesus and a false one, and how this TRUE testimony has the power to greatly call the TRUE church to rise up to the occasion. This true testimony also has the power to expose those within the church who hold to a FALSE testimony of Jesus as well.

A TRUE TESTIMONY OF JESUS

A long time ago, Jesus was having a one on one conversation with a woman of questionable character and reputation when He said something profound that has greatly impacted my life! Jesus said this in John 4:23:

“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.”

What a beautiful and alarming truth. The good news is this; the hour for true worship has come! No more waiting. Worship is an amazing thing because when we see true worship, we are reminded of what it actually looks like to fulfill the calling of our entire existence. We were created for worship. Personally speaking, every time the Lord has brought me across the path of a ‘true worshiper’, the Lord has used their life example of worship to call me to a greater life of worship and devotion to Jesus. This was certainly the case with me when my family and I first met Rifqa Bary over a year ago. I met a girl who, for the first time in one hundred and fifty generations in her family, became the first TRUE worshipper of the TRUE Jesus. She came to know the Jesus who was much more than a prophet as she was told by her family’s religion. She came to know the Jesus who is God the Son who stepped into human flesh in order to purchase with His blood many who were lost. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil! In order for Rifqa to become a true worshipper, she had to know the truth of who Jesus really is.

What sets Rifqa’s life apart however is not just that Rifqa worships Jesus in truth, but that she worships in SPIRIT and in truth. There are many within the evangelical church today who would give mental assent to the truth about Jesus, but it can be a rarity to see a person worship in both spirit and in truth. For much of my life as an evangelical Christian, I prided myself in knowing the right information about Jesus in my mind, but I knew nothing of what it meant to be intimate with Jesus by communion with Him in deep prayer through my spirit.

The most intimate part of a person’s life is the spirit of that person. It is our spirit that conveys all of our heart’s longings and desires. When we worship the Lord in spirit, we worship with all of our heart, and with all of our essence and being. There is nothing held back. Not even the fear of rejection from people can hold us back. Only those who worship BOTH in spirit and in truth are the ones who hold to a TRUE testimony of Jesus.

Rifqa’s life is an example of what it looks like to hunger and thirst for intimacy with Jesus more than life itself. Rifqa’s life is a life marked by radical prayer and hunger for the presence of God. This is what led her to seek God for hours in the middle of the night. She did not do this out of a sense of the religious duty or ‘conviction’ that most evangelical churches try to produce in their people, but out of a heart of love that longs for deep intimacy with the Jesus she came to know the truth about. When she would seek God in the middle of the night out of fear of her parents and family finding out, she thought that no one was looking. There was, however, one person who was looking very intently. God noticed what she did in secret, and He is bringing it out into the light! The secret life of passion and love for Jesus that Rifqa Bary demonstrates is being put on display for the world to see! Consider Jesus’ words from Luke 8:16-17:

“Now no one after lighting a lamp covers it over with a container, or puts it under a bed; but he puts it on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light. For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.”

God stepped into Rifqa’s life and lit her lamp so to speak. The Spirit of God burns and shines very brightly through her and now God is taking this girl who cultivated this relationship with Jesus in secret and He is putting her life on the lampstand for the whole world to see! As this light goes forth, it is exposing the church that remains asleep at the wheel, as well as exposing the remnant of the church that He is awakening to life!

THE PERSECUTION OF THE RIGHTEOUS

Rifqa’s decision to not deny Jesus in the face of her family’s threats have caused a chain of events to occur that highlight the reality of the new day that we are entering into in our nation. When Rifqa escaped her home in Ohio out of fear for her life, she fled to Florida and sought refuge at the home of Blake and Beverly Lorenz, the church leaders who took her in. By taking Rifqa in, they did a noble thing that you would think would earn them the support of the church and of society. I was stunned to watch and listen to the false reports that depicted Blake and Beverly as people who lead a cult, and the accusation that they are using Rifqa’s situation for personal gain and for grandstanding. Their character has been mutilated in the press, and instead of being commended for saving Rifqa’s life, they have been treated as criminals by the press, and even by other believers. I have personally met this couple, and I can tell you that they are precious people who love the Lord. All of this slander and attack could have been avoided if they turned Rifqa away, sending her to possible death. Because they did the courageous thing and saved her life, they are being attacked mercilessly. They have a lot of courage for doing this, and I commend them for this.

A couple of days ago, I noticed an article that has been posted all over the internet, as well as on an Al-Qaida news site, that contained lies, slander, and misinformation about me and my actions. This attack on my character and life was done by a person whom I have never met for one simple reason…because I am standing by a precious girl who is beautifully holding to a TRUE testimony of Jesus. In addition to her family situation, Rifqa herself has received death threats from multiple sources. Those of us who have defended her have been accused of being from radical hate groups.

If Rifqa denied Jesus, none of this would be happening. I am very thankful for the courage that the Lord is giving Rifqa! I am convinced this we are only seeing the beginning of what the TRUE body of Christ will be facing in this nation in the months and years to come. The specific circumstances that may bring this persecution may change, but the result will be the same. Believers from all over the world have been living in suffering and persecution for centuries, but for those of us in America, it may be our turn now.

Are you ready?

ILLUMINATING AND REVEALING THE REAL CHURCH

Jesus said that the world would know who His true disciples are by the love they have for one another. I have seen this truth unfold before my eyes in breathtaking ways these last couple of weeks. There have been people from all over the nation and even the globe, who have been stirred by Rifqa’s story. Entire congregations have prayed and fasted for her, letters, emails, and messages of support and love have come in from fellow followers of Jesus Christ from every perspective, stream, and denomination of the body of Christ. A group of believers from Kentucky who had never met Rifqa showed up at the courthouse in Florida because they were moved out of love and support to stand with her. They didn’t wait to find out what Rifqa’s statement of faith was, they didn’t ask what denomination she was from, they didn’t read her writings looking for things they didn’t agree with, they simply recognized a fellow sister in the body of Christ and they were filled with supernatural love and support for her. There was nothing in it for them. Isn’t that beautiful?

THE SLEEPING OHIO CHURCH

We have been hearing a lot from Ohio these last few weeks. Most of it has not been accurate or good however. The threat that Rifqa was facing has been depicted by authorities in Ohio as simply a family feud. The faith community that Rifqa’s parents are associated with have blatantly lied about their involvement in her life and they have denied the very real fear that she faced simply because she was a Christian. Their response is not surprising at all. What is surprising, however, has been the loud silence from the church in central Ohio.

(When I refer to the church, I am NOT referring to a particular location or building, denomination, or specific organization…these are extra-biblical man made things that have served to keep the church divided from each other. When I say ‘church’, I am referring primarily to the people who belong to Jesus. As you may know, there is really only one church in central Ohio, but that is another article for another day.)

You don’t have to know Rifqa to be moved by her situation, you simply have to be awake to the kingdom of God through the power of the Holy Spirit. Because of this situation, God has been mobilizing the part of the church in our nation that is awake. This was an effortless endeavor as people acted themselves without much prompting. They were simply moved by God to take the actions that they felt God leading them to do. Some people have felt led to fast and pray, some have been prompted to write the governor of Florida and other elected officials, some people have urged their contacts to pray and support Rifqa through facebook, as well as other means of getting the word out.

While it has been encouraging to see the body of Christ come together, much of this support has come from places other than Ohio. Yes, there have been people in Ohio who have gotten involved, (you know who you are), but by and large the larger body of Christ in central Ohio, the very place where Rifqa came to know the Lord, has been silent! We have heard more from the people in Ohio who are slandering her true testimony of Jesus than we have from the church of Jesus.

I fear that much of the church in Ohio is still asleep at the wheel. The sad reality is that much of the church in central Ohio is so busy maintaining and building their own kingdoms that they have been blind to what the Lord is actually doing in His kingdom beginning in their own city! I feel that the church in Ohio has been more alarmed at the buckeye football team’s near loss to the Naval Academy than there is for Rifqa’s fight for her life. I know that this might sound like a harsh rebuke. It is meant to be! I am not leveling this criticism at any particular institution or group, but at the body of Christ at large in Ohio.

WHERE ARE YOU CHURCH?

Now is the time to awaken from your slumber and realize that His kingdom is unfolding all around you. As John Piper says best, it is a tragedy to have a peace time mindset when we are in the middle of a war! (no, the war is not against people, but the forces of evil that the apostle Paul describes in Ephesians 6.) Yes, there have been some within the local church in central Ohio that have awakened, but this has been the exception to the rule, and not the rule. The church’s silence in Ohio has been louder than their outcry. This is a very revealing indicator about the spiritual temperature of the church in Ohio.

So, what are we supposed to do? That’s a great question. I have no idea what the Lord may have you do specifically, and where all of this will end up, but I do know where it all begins. It begins in deep and radical prayer. It is in this place of prayer and intimacy that the Lord will show all of us what we are to do in the season ahead. So what should we pray for? That is also a great question. Recently, I asked Rifqa that same question. What she has asked me to pray for her about has now become the prayer request for my life as well. Maybe Rifqa’s prayer request for her life can also become the prayer request for your life too? Rifqa’s prayer request was the same prayer request that Elisha asked for in 2 Kings chapter 2. Like Elisha, Rifqa is asking for a double portion of the Spirit of God. May this also be true of us as well.

“…Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” (Ephesians 5:14)

"I don't know if you know about honor killings? But this faith—you guys don't understand, Islam is very different than you guys think." So avows runaway apostate Rifqa Bary, the focus of a so-called dependency battle that is expanding into a national debate on the conflict between Islamic mores and American freedom.
The 17-year-old had been practicing Christianity in secret for four years when she fled her home in central Ohio in July, fearing for her life after her parents discovered her defection. The Sri Lankan Bary family has been in the U.S. since 2000.
The girl, describing her parents as "devout Muslims," can be seen on WFTV's website telling her story to one of the station's reporters. She speaks from the Florida home of Blake and Beverly Lorenz, a pastor couple with the Global Revolution Church who took her in.
"They have to kill me," Miss Bary says. "My blood is now halal, which means that because I'm now a Christian—I'm from a Muslim background—it's an honor. If they love God more than me, they have to do this. I'm fighting for my life, you guys don't understand." The juxtaposition of American teen lingo with medieval precepts is a chilling confirmation that a long-understood reality in Europe is only now dawning on American minds. "You guys talk about religious freedom? No—I don't have that...I don't want to die."
At Thursday's hearing before a packed Orlando courtroom, Judge Daniel Dawson rejected pleas from Mohamed and Aysha Bary to send their daughter back to Ohio, confirming she will remain in Florida pending investigation, with another hearing scheduled for Sept. 29.
Miss Bary's counsel, John Stemberger, has filed a sworn affidavit from his client, underlining her father's close connection to Ohio's Noor Islamic Cultural Center, and a 33-page report on the mosque's ties to the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood. Noor spokesmen have entered the fray, denying the evidence and claiming there is no such thing as death for apostasy in Islamic law.
Extensive coverage in the Orlando Sentinel echoes the narrative developed by the local Council on American-Islamic Relations chapter, which is campaigning against anyone who defends Miss Bary.
They both dismiss the purportedly melodramatic fears of a gullible teen exploited by Christian zealots, defended by Islamophobes bent on fomenting religious war, and opportunist politicians fishing for the right wing vote.
"[Mr.] Bary is a middle-class jeweler with no documented history of abuse and no record of radical actions or beliefs," the Orlando Sentinel's Mike Thomas wrote last month in a piece alleging anti-Muslim bias in Miss Bary's case.
Mr. Thomas seems to see no reason why Mr. Bary would kill his daughter—after all, he said in court she would be free to worship as she chooses.

Five thousand victims of honor killings annually world-wide, according to a conservative U.N. estimate, bear witness against Mr. Thomas's placid supposition. Women in Muslim countries and immigrant communities everywhere fall prey to an elaborate legal code enforced by torture and murder that deprives them of their civil rights, their human rights, their right to exist.

Stories of runaways enticed to come home and let all be forgiven, only to be met by their executioners, abound on the continent. Banaz Mahmod, a 20-year-old Iraqi refugee in London, was murdered by her father and uncle in 2006 after police dismissed her requests for protection. In 2002, 17-year-old Sohane Benziane was burned alive in a Paris suburb by a fellow teenager. In April, a 20-year-old Turkish man was jailed for allegedly strangling, beating and ultimately killing his twin sister, Gulsum Semin, after learning of her abortion, Agence France-Presse reported.
Europeans cannot escape the headlines. European police met in The Hague in 2004 to confer on a strategy to combat honor killings. The Council of Europe published a report in June warning the practice is increasingly common in France, Sweden, the Netherlands, the U.K. and Turkey.
A nationwide safety net against this form of oppression has developed in France, which hosts Europe's largest Muslim population. There, a minor like Ms. Bary who feels threatened by her family can find associations offering counseling and asylum, from Voix de Femmes (Voice of Women) formed by an Algerian victim of a forced marriage, to a safe house association in Montpellier, to Ni Putes Ni Soumises (Neither Whores Nor Doormats), created in the wake of Ms. Benziane's immolation. Young women railroaded into marriage while on vacation in their parents' home country can turn to French consular officials for help.
No one would doubt Miss Bary's story.
"Do you really think that this is true, or do you think this is just a threat?" the journalist asks in the WFTV video.
Miss Bary, doubled up in anguish, begs not for mercy but for lucidity.

I pray that Fathima ran away and escaped this fate -- unlike Amina and Sarah who ran away and returned at the insistence of their mother, Tissie Said, only to be brutally murdered by their father Yaser Said. I hope Fathima got away, unlike Aqsa Parvez, who stayed with friends only to return home and get murdered by her father.

I pray she escaped Islam. The 16-year-old girl was converting to Christianity from Islam. She lived in a Muslim home.

Reports that saw fit to mention her recent trips to churches in her community, some of her friends are worried that her going missing has something to do with her recent conversion. (more here)

Fathima Rifqa Bary After Nearly 2 Weeks, New Albany Teen Still Missing hat tip Diane

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police on Friday were still looking for information about a central Ohio teenager who vanished nearly two weeks ago. Investigators said there is no evidence that Fathima Rifqa Bary, 16, is a victim of foul play, but they could not rule out that she is not in danger, 10TV's Maureen Kocot reported.

Bary, of New Albany, was last seen on July 19.

The teenager's cell phone has been turned off and her Facebook account deactivated, Kocot reported.

According to police, the girl's friends told detectives that it was possible she ran away because of conflicting religious beliefs in her home.

"If anybody is harboring her they are definitely in violation of at least one misdemeanor charge that I know of, and that's interference of custody," said Columbus police Sgt. Jerry Cupp.

Investigators said Bary is affiliated with two central Ohio churches: one on Cleveland Avenue and the other near the Ohio State University campus.

They also said Bary may have been seen near campus the night she disappeared.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call Columbus police at 614-645-4545.

A Florida judge ruled Thursday that 17-year-old Rifqa Bary can stay in Orlando until further notice, but it appears the case is headed for trial.

In July, Bary fled to Florida to escape what she says would be certain death, after her Muslim parents found out she became a Christian.

She looked relaxed and confident as she entered the Orlando courtroom with her attorneys on Thursday. Her parents also joined the hearing by telephone.

Many things went her way. A motion to dismiss her lawyer was denied and she does not have to return to Ohio for now. But her father's attorney, Shayan Elahi, hopes that will change.

"The main issue today is, where should this happen?," Elahi asked. "Here or in Ohio? She's from Ohio. The allegations are from Ohio. The evidence is from Ohio."

Halfway through the hearing, Bary became emotional when Elahi told the court she should not be allowed to see Pastor Blake Lorenz and his wife Beverly of the Global Revolution Church in Orlando.

The Orlando couple took in Bary after she fled Ohio in fear for her life. Her parents claim the Lorenz's brainwashed their child. But friends of Bary said that is impossible, because she had already been a Christian for four years, but she in fact fled in fear for her life.

"As Mohammad the prophet of Islam said, 'If any one changes religion, kill him,'" said Robert Spencer, expert on Islamic terrorism.

The debate about Islam became heated outside the courtroom. But Elahi said this case is not about religion.

"Mr. John Stemberger wants it to be about religion, that is his position," Elahi said. "We don't agree with that. This is about parental control."

But Bary was not without supporters. A group of young people traveled 15 hours from Kentucky to attend the hearing - even though they do not know her.

"There's just a connection between our experiences. She had to leave her family for her faith, and I did the same thing," said supporter Greg Mielke. "I had to leave my family because I stood up for what God's Word says."

"I saw her YouTube video online and we just had a burden placed on our hearts to come out and support her and pray for her," said Jessica Wolff, another supporter.

Circuit Judge Dan Dawson sealed a police report for 10 days that looked into Bary's family and home life in Ohio.

He also issued a gag order prohibiting attorneys from talking to the media.

While the judge ordered the case back to mediation, it appears to be headed for trial. If no deal is reached, the judge will hear testimony and decide whether Bary should be returned to Ohio.

The judge set a pretrial hearing for Sept. 29.

Law enforcement notified of death threat against Rifqa Bary

The Florida Dept of Law Enforcement and the FBI have been notified of a death threat against Rifqa Bary in the form of a Facebook group that states its mission as "we need to kill her". Facebook has removed the group as of this morning, but a copy of group page from Aug. 28th can still be found in Google cache. The group was created by a Mohamed Sahlan Suhail, whose personal FB page has also been removed.

According to the screen captures posted at Atlas Shrugs, there were at least 123 members of the group as of last night.

And for those of you wondering, yes that would be the same FDLE investigating that found no substantive threat to Rifqa in a report submitted to the court and sealed by the judge last Thursday. Will FDLE now revise its clearly erroneous assessment? Any guesses how many media outlets who picked up the FDLE report meme despite the court's gag order will pick up the story of this death threat? Will the Bary parents' attorney Shayan Elahi and the Council on America-Islamic Relations apologize for stoking the flames of religious hatred and bigotry against Rifqa and the Christian community in this case?

Throughout the Book of Vayikra G-d teaches us about the various offerings for sin, but now here in chapter 16 He delivers sin its final blow. Yes right here in Vayikra 16 G-d shows us a clear picture of Yeshua's redemptive work.

Mishlei (Proverbs) {16:25} There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Many people say that all religions are basically the same, that we all worship the same G-d. They insist that everyone has their own way to approach Him. But I am here to tell you today that there is only one way to G-d, and that is His way. All other ways lead direct to hell. We are going to explore that way, as we learn about the Feast of Yom Kippur.

Yom Kippur during biblical times was not an ordinary day. The sacrificing on this day was not like any of the other sacrifices performed during the year. This once a year sacrifice required that the Kohen HaGadol (High Priest) enter the Kodesh Hakodashim (Holy of Holies) alone, it was just him and G-d. He took with him a vessel containing the blood of the goat upon which the sacrificial lot fell. This blood was then sprinkled on the kaporet (Mercy Seat), which covered the Aron HaKodesh (Ark of the Covenant) found in the Kodesh Hakodashim. If acceptable, that is if the animal sacrificed was without spot or blemish, G-d received the offering and declared the sins of b'nai Yisreal (the children of Israel) atoned for.

Yeshua's sacrifice was like no other. He entered alone on our behalf, into the Kodesh Hakodashim, but not the one built by man. Yeshua entered the heavenly Kodesh Hakodashim there to sprinkle His blood on the heavenly Kaporet. This was now a one time sacrifice, not only however only for the sins of b'nai Yisrael, but for all the sin of the world. By accomplishing this Yeshua became our bridge to G-d. It is the blood that atones for sin. The Temple no longer exists, it has not existed now for two thousand years, but the fact of the matter is, it no longer has to exist, at least for the time being. Yeshua has and still is accomplishing this Yom Kippur atonement for us and for the world, in heaven.

Yom Kippur teaches us how we are to approach G-d. Anyone who does not come to Him His way, that is through the atonement accomplished by Yeshua, is coming to Him in an unacceptable way. The Yom Kippur sacrifice had to be a blood sacrifice and that blood had to be handled as described in Vayikra 16. There was no other way for Yom Kippur atonement then and there is no other way now. G-d eliminated the necessity of a Temple by satisfying His own commandment on our behalf. That is why the Temple no longer exists.

Vayikra {16:4} He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.

On Yom Kippur the Kohen Ha Gadol had to remove the beautiful garments he wore, which were an insignia of his high office. G-d described them as garments of "glory and beauty." Instead, on this day he was to wear simple linen clothing. This was after all the day he was approaching G-d, and he could not do so with vestitures of authority, because before G-d he had none. The Kohen's beautiful clothing were given to him to represent G-d before the people but on this day, Yom Kippur, the Kohen HaGadol was representing the people before G-d. All power and authority are the L-rd's.

Likewise Yeshua set aside His glory and honour and took upon Himself the humble garment of human flesh. In doing so He did not set aside His deity, He just set aside His glory so as to humble Himself for us before the Father.

G-d gave us the Feast of Yom Kippur as a shadow of things to come. It would remain in effect until the fullness of time, when a better kaporah (sacrifice) would take its place. That better kaporah has come. In biblical times they celebrated Yom Kippur by looking forward in anticipation of Yeshua's coming. Today we celebrate Yom Kippur by looking back to what Yeshua has done for us and for the world.

G-d's commandments to us are clear, we know what He wants us to do. If we fail to do what He wants, how He wants us to do it, it is willful disobedience on our part. Dare you risk the consequences of such disobedience? Better you should say; "As for me and my house, we will serve the L-rd."

The Efforts to Destroy Rifqa Bary

The Islamic community is in panic mode. Apostate Rifqa Bary has exposed their religion as the violent, intolerant faith that murders those who abandon it, all in the name of allah. Now, they must destroy this brave young girl before she causes further destruction to the peaceful image that they wish to portray of Islam.

This poor girl has been through so much: alleged sexual abuse by an uncle and a 3 1/2 hour interrogation by Florida officials who were supposed to be looking out for her welfare, all without an attorney to advise her. She requested the attorney, state denied her wishes.

So here we have a lovely young woman who, after converting to Christianity, is fearful for her life and wants nothing more than legal intervention enjoining her from returning from Florida to her parents in Ohio, where she could very likely face an honor killing. To the court, to the media and to the world, her parents argue that Islam is a religion of peace, that Rifqa is in no danger, that it is the Christian minister who has brought such fantasies into her mind.

Is it?

Thanks to Pam Geller at Atlas Shrugs, we see that a Facebook group has popped up in which threats are made to kill Rifqa Bary. Her crime? Apostasy. Punishable, they say, by death.

This young woman is the new face of the violence and subjugation of women inherent in radical Islam. As Geller points out, "Salman Rushdie did far less."

And yet we as a civilized nation continue to be so caught up in our politically correct nonsense that we refuse to see and identify evil right in front of us. We continue to watch as the left labels concerned everyday Americans as "extremists" and "domestic terrorists" when the real radicals are on our doorstep.

Furthermore, where are the women's groups? Where are the women's rights activists coming out for this young woman? The practice of honor killings has come to the forefront, and yet there is deafening silence from the National Organization for Women, the same non-response after stories of women stoned for committing adultery, arrested for talking to men at a coffee shop, imprisoned for daring to drive a car. Where are they? Why can't they stand up for Rifqa?

I hate to get political, but it always frustrates me to see the double standard. Hollywood activist actresses like Annette Bening and Alfre Woodard have no problem traveling to Iran, congressional fools like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has no qualms about traveling to Syria, donning headscarves and lauding a culture which kills women for apostasy, stones women for adultery, whips women for socializing, and looks upon women as third-class citizens, but once they return to the States they turn right around and show up at events sponsored by NOW and its discriminatory counterparts.

Where are these people for Rifqa Bary? My God, you see it -- this girl faces death if she is forced to return home to her family. And yet we hide behind this inexplicable need for tolerance in the face of murder. I don't get it.

I have said from the very first that Rifqa Bary is the highest value target in America. Apostasy is the most egregious crime against Islam. Her crime is not just against the family. it is against Islam.

I know Ohio law enforcement and Florida law enforcement found no threat to Rifqa but perhaps they can put down the kool aid for five minutes and do their job.

There is a pro-Islamic site on Facebook that threatens Rifqa Bary with death. Will everyone stop the PC, religion of peace nonsense, pull ther heads out of ther asses and get serious. Is law enforcement going to stop playing games and protect this young girl or what? Salman Rushdie did far less.

Rifqa Violated: Interrogated for Close to Three Hours with no Counsel

Dear Gov Crist

This is my third letter to you in the matter of Rifqa Bary.

My previous two letters were written to appeal to you as a man of conscience to allow Rifqa Bary to remain in the State of Florida, safe from the dangers she fears, and in all events to allow her to stay there until she reaches the age of 18.

Now, I am appalled to learn that this fine young woman was subjected, seemingly against her will and better instincts, to three and a half hours of interrogation by your department (FDLE) without the presence of her own lawyer, and that FDLE even refused her permission to have her lawyer present despite (a) her having requested so herself a short while into the interview, and (b) her guardian ad litem having specifically asked DCF and/or FDLE that both she and Rifqa's attorney be given advance notice of any such interview, which they were not -- which surely is a violation of Rifqa's rights.

Evidently, DCF was partner to these decisions and, as the agency responsible for protecting Rifqa;'s welfare, is even more at fault than FDLE.

This is an extremely disturbing development. Ms Bary was quite obviously subjected to intimidation and abuse by FDLE (and DCF) by being denied her rights and by being subjected to FDLE's harassment and intimidation, and was not given the protection DCF sbould have ensured. In fact, she was accorded not even the basic rights to which a criminal is entitled! All this, in AMERICA? For shame!

Gov Crist, the buck stops with you!

I urge you to make sure that Ms Bary is given every protection under the Constitution, that you personally apologise to her for this poor treatment, and that she be fully compensated by the State of Florida for any and all deprivations and mistreatment at the hands of those on your watch.

The Islamic machine is in full swing. Their priority is to separate Rifqa from her supporters, her friends, her fortress against the jihad against her. The belligerent, hostile new Islamist lawyer for Mohamed Bary has tried vigorously to get John Stemberger (Rifqa's lawyer) removed. He shrieked in the court room that Rifqa's guardian ad litem was in cahoots with Rifqa's legal counsel (and what is their evil agenda? Rifqa's well being?). The Muslim offense is to restrict Rifqa's visitation with her close friends and Shayan Elahi (the Islamic lawyer) recommended to the judge that "medication" be administered to Rifqa.
Do you see where this is going?

But they can't attack that dear little girl every day, can they? No. So they switch off between Rifqa, "the right wing" extremists protecting and defending her (myself, Robert Spencer et al), Rifqa's lawyer (a Christian conservative activist!), Christianity itself and the good Pastor who took her in.

The corrupt and utterly debased media is only too happy to do the dirty work for jihad. Check out this disgusting editorial written by a Muslim accusing the church of "getting rich off Rifqa". First off, the Rifqa Bary Trust was only just established a couple of days ago. And Rifqa will be receiving all proceeds. This is an attempt to smear the church and keep money out of Rifqa's hands much needed for defense. She needs to hire various professionals for her defense. The lawyer that set up the trust did it pro bono. Believe me, there is no money cache.

Where are the Muslims defending Rifqa? Where are Muslim feminists (oxymoron?) coming to the defense of Rifqa. Every apostate has spoken fiercely in Rifqa's defense. How come we don't see those faces on television?

This case is about apostasy. Period. All this confetti is a trick to take the focus off the brutal punishment for apostates.

To keep Fathima Rifqa Bary in Florida, the argument is being made in court that not only is her family a danger to her, and not only is the entire Muslim community in Columbus a danger to her life, but that the state of Ohio is incapable of protecting her ("Christian activists rally behind runaway teen," Dispatch article, Friday). As crazy as this position sounds, the group that is trying to keep her there has gotten a lot of political support in Florida, including from the governor.

As a consequence, Web sites are publishing shrill articles, such as www.centerforsecuritypolicy.org's "Dead Girl Walking."

Not a single politician stood up for truth and justice in this case until Wednesday, when Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien issued a statement that, in 31 years, he has not heard of a single case of "honor killing" in the area. So the claim that the Muslim community of central Ohio, which numbers more than 60,000 people, is dangerous to people who leave the religion is nothing but hate propaganda.

Ron O'Brien ought to look beyond his lakeview townhouse where there are large concentrations of Muslims. As far back as 2004, UK police were re-examining more than 100 murders in England and Wales they suspect could be so-called honour killings. It has gotten so bad in the UK that the Parliament has taken it up as a critical issue. Last month a man, his wife, and son are accused of killing four young women, including the man's three daughters in what Canada police are describing as a savage honor killing disguised as a car accident.

O'Brien is an ignoramus. Do your homework before you sentence a girl to death.

Ohio child-welfare officials also issued a report stating that it is safe for Rifqa to return to Ohio. Rifqa Bary's family already has agreed to let her come back here and immediately be put under the protection of Franklin County Children Services.

I have spoken to a number of folks on Ohio and this girl has been living in fear for years. Terrified. As one of her best friends described her secret conversion, "It's an Ann Frank Story".

In response, the Florida court sealed the findings of its own law-enforcement investigation into the alleged "Ohio threat," because obviously there isn't one, and so far has refused to let her come back to Ohio.

Why not let her come here? Because Global Revolution Church, the fanatical group that targeted this minor on the Internet and put her up in the home of a male "pastor" in Florida without alerting the authorities for two weeks, is out to make money off this story.

I have met them, talked to them. They are lovely, G-d fearing Christians. The salt of the earth.

The church has succeeded in injecting bigotry and ignorance into the halls of justice in Florida. But I believe the hate that has infected Florida politics, a cancer that Americans soundly rejected in the last election, ultimately will be defeated in this case.

It is about time for Gov. Ted Strickland to do the right thing and take a stand in defense of our state and in the defense of justice and the rule of law.

Islamic leaders trying to have it both ways on Rifqa Bary case

They want to claim that Rifqa Bary is in no danger while equivocating about whether Islam mandates a death penalty for apostasy. Here is a case study. "Islamic activists trying to have it both ways," by Paul Mulshine at NJ.com, September 5 (thanks to James):

You might be following the story of Rifqa Bary, the 17-year-old Ohio girl who claims that her father wants to have her killed for converting from Islam to Christianity.
Various Muslim activists - and their liberal supporters - are trying to make the same tired argument here that they make whenever such issues come up.

What they argue is that Muslims here in America would never do such a thing. Sounds good. But just try and get them to denounce Muslims in other countries who do so.

I tried. Shortly after the 9/11 attacks I went and interviewed a local Muslim leader in New Jersey. I spent more than an hour trying to pin him down on the thorny question of whether it is or isn't okay for Muslims to use physical force against apostates, Christians who proselytize, and so on.

The column ran on Dec. 12, 2001. It was headlined

"Tolerating the intolerant"

I went into my interview with one of the leading spokesmen for New Jersey's Muslim community with a preconceived notion: I believe that writers should be able to write what they want without threat of physical violence.

I realize this belief is self-serving. I am, after all, a writer. I don't want to be killed. Nonetheless, I believe virtually all of my fellow writers here in the United States also hold this belief. It may even extend to editors, though I confess I have seen evidence to the contrary.

So I was curious to see whether Yasir El-Menshawy shared this belief. Menshawy is the president of the New Jersey Council of Mosques and Islamic Organizations. There are two branches of Islam in the United States, one that is purely religious and another that maintains that religion and politics are inseparable. Menshawy comes from that second wing, by far the larger of the two, he says.

For this reason I wanted to discuss with him a particularly thorny question of religion and politics: the death sentence issued against Salman Rushdie. [...]

Me: "But, seriously, you didn't get to the question. Was it wrong for them to condemn Salman Rushdie to death for a book he wrote?"

El-Menshawy: "I'm not going to answer that question."

So much for freedom of speech.

I also pressed Menshawy on the question of freedom of religion. I noted that some Muslim countries, most notably Saudi Arabia, outlaw proselytization by Christians. Again, Menshawy steered the conversation down various cul-de-sacs for a good 10 minutes until we eventually reached the following conclusion:

Me: "You're dodging the question. Can you conceive of circumstances where a government may lock up a person for advocating a religion, yes or no?"

Menshawy: "I'm not going to answer that question."

Here's another classic in the genre:

Me: "Do you think there are circumstances under which someone can be locked up legitimately for exercising free speech?"

Menshawy: "I don't know that there are. But I don't know that there aren't." [...]

COMMENTS: I realize this is a controversial issue. I'd like those who comment to stick to the narrow issue of whether it is acceptable for Muslims in America to either argue for or stay silent on issues of intolerance among Muslims in other countries. In many such countries, for example, the law bans proseyltization by Christians. Many Muslims support that practice but openly proselytize here in America.

Is that sort of behavior acceptable? That's what is at issue here.

Indeed it is.

Wow, Pamela Is Doing a Great Job Covering the Rifqa Bary Case

Thank God for Pamela and Robert Spencer.

The coverage of Rifqa Bary's hearing in the decrepit mainstream media is appalling and dishonest, yet again but I could not help but laugh when I got a gander at today's column from one of our favorite low lives on the lower end of the media food chain: Michael "Lapdog" Kruse. His last column was low, but he managed to outdo even himself. He hits bottom and keeps on digging.

You remember my last Kruse fisk here. In that infinitely forgettable piece, he is calling for the arrest of the Christian Samaritans who took in a young girl running for her life. He would have been the better person and turned away a desperate child in fear of her life. Get it??

I am not going to fisk all the dreck he wrote, but a couple of things stand out. His tawdry lies about Rifqa and his denigration of her defenders is disgusting.

No abuse found, says attorney for Muslim family of runaway Christian teen Michael Kruse, St. Petersburg Times

[Rifqa Bary] was in court Thursday, wearing a brown sweater, a white dress and dark red nail polish. She said nothing, but did blow an occasional kiss to people she knew in the courtroom when she wasn't reading her Bible.

Kruse is a liar. I was sitting in the first row. I never took my eyes off her. She never blew a kiss to anyone. Depraved. And what about the "darkred nail polish"? I didn't see any "dark red nail polish", I can't say either way, but what is this perv looking at and looking for? Kruse is depicting this sweet, innocent little girl as some kind of .... trollop. Zsa Zsa Gabor. Kruse is evil and his hatred of Rifqa is the hatred of the good for being the good.

Thursday, the state Department of Children Families asked that Bary no longer be allowed to visit with Blake and Beverly Lorenz. The judge agreed, although he let her continue to visit with the Lorenzes' three children, who are in their 20s, and whom Bary considers "dear friends and spiritual advisers," according to John Stemberger, her attorney.

Note the contempt for anything "spiritual". Kruse is an empty vassal.

In court, Krista Bartholomew, Bary's guardian ad litem, said this case was "not a holy war," but that's what this has become over the last month.

Jamal Jivanjee, the Ohio pastor, compared Rifqa Bary to Anne Frank, the Jewish girl who was killed by Nazis in World War II and whose diary became what many consider one of the most important books of the 20th century.

Jamal Jivanjee, a righteous and brave soul. Kruse is not fit to lick his boots.

Robert Spencer, who writes on a blog called Jihad Watch, told reporters Islam was here to take over America.

Uh, a blogger? Spencer has written nine books, including two bestsellers, and briefed the FBI, JTTF, DHS, Central Command and intelligence community on Islamic jihad.

Pam [sic] Geller of the Atlas Shrugs blog dismissed the results of the Franklin County investigation by saying things were "corrupt in Ohio."

Rifqa went to school with bruises on her arms and legs. She told at least 20 adults of threats and fears (one cop admitted to that). Yet Sgt. Jerry Cupp of the missing-persons unit of the Columbus police special-victims bureau, ignored all that and disputed Rifqa's charge against Mohamed Bary. That's not corruption? There is a history of intimidation. Islam has a history of honor killings. Her father belongs to a radical mosque. And LE is saying there is no threat? If they are not corrupt, they are incomprehensibly stupid.

"Forget your political correctness!" she said.

If Phil Keating is not politically correct, then what is he? A misogynist? A convert?

Muslim businessman Mohammad Lutfi of Orlando yelled that Trento, Spencer and Geller were "conservative, right-wing militants" and "crusaders."

Check out "Muslim businessman". He was a CAIR plant, a vicious, lying agitator who tried to turn the hearing into a circus. But Spencer is a "blogger". Get it?

Yesterday the journalist/novelist Michael Kruse of the St. Petersburg Times, who is very good at making things up, said this about me:

Kruse didn't think it necessary to note that when I said that "Islam wasn't here to worship and get along but rather to become the dominant religion in America," I was referring to a statement of Omar Ahmad, cofounder and longtime board chairman of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, of which Mohammad Lutfi called himself an "honor member" (video coming soon). I attributed this statement to Ahmad. But by phrasing his report this way, as I am sure Kruse was aware, he made me sound like a nut, whereas if he had noted that it was a quote from the cofounder of CAIR, indicating that there are Muslims in America who say this sort of thing, his story would have taken on a substantially different cast.

You will see in this video that I refer to the statement by Omar Ahmad about Islam becoming dominant in the United States and the Koran being the only law in this country, mention Omar Ahmad by name and identify who he is, and all the while standing to my immediate left is none other than...MichaelKruse of the St. Petersburg Times. He is the one in the blue shirt with Seventies-style hair and a beard, taking notes with a blue pen.
So here it is on video: Michael Kruse was right there, he heard me attribute the statement properly, and then he made the decision to strip out the attribution and characterize the statement as if it were an out-of-the-blue assertion from a paranoid blogger.
